My Quarantine Challenges: A time of learning and knowledge.

Definitely, this mandatory and unexpected quarantine because of the new version of **Coronavirus** (*Covid-19*) is forcing everyone (practically worldwide) to review their own priorities and, aldo making everyone set our goals. At the same time that this happens, it is also possible to review old objectives and in the middle of it all, get new and, sometimes, unforgettable learnings.

You have to be very perceptive and wise to be able to see all these possibilities and it is up to us to take advantage of them when they arise. However... On the other hand, many of us are the ones who build some of them and turn these options into something real requires **attention**, **patience**, **dedication** and **willpower** (a set of qualities that exists in all people, but that needs to be practiced).

From the moment the quarantine period was made official by the **World Health Organization**, I started to imagine everything I would like to do and, with that, acquire new knowledge. But I also started to rethink old habits that I no longer practiced for several reasons (for example, watching the sunrise and sunset or talking to friends that I haven't spoken in a long time).

Focusing on the main activities that I started listing, I made a mix of challenges that for me are essential. However, I have not set a goal for them because there is no way of specifying how long the quarantine will last (but I hope this will end soon and we can all go back to living our lives normally). So... I'm going to comment on each of them in the following paragraphs.

**#01. PHYSICAL EXERCISES**.

https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wiseagent/jIz9Vf16-exercises.png

[The New York Times](https://www.nytimes.com/guides/well/how-to-build-muscle)

I never liked going to the gym (what a boring place!) and the way I found to exercise is to walk, run, swim and ride a bike. I prioritize these outdoor activities because they do me good and they don't bore me. But during this period of isolation this is not being possible and because of that I decided to improvise at home (which for me was a very interesting and funny challenge).

Well... I do physical exercises following the steps of video lessons that I watch on YouTube channels and dedicate at least **1 hour of my day** just for that. The schedule is alternated, sometimes I do it in the morning and sometimes I do it in the late afternoon. Plus, I try to get some **sun light** (which during rainy days becomes a kind of "luxury accessory"), and also, to get some **vitamin D**.

**#02. LEARNING HOW TO COOK BETTER**.

https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wiseagent/i0vRVEib-cooking.jpg

[Healthy Cooking](https://www.healthycookingco.com.au/)

I'm a long way from what can be considered a master chef, but what I can cook makes me comfortable anywhere in the world. But I always wanted to learn how to cook better and also, to eat healthier. In this quarantine period, this is being possible in a way that I did not imagine. For example: Before, I thought the cooking programs were all futile and now, I see them with different eyes, haha!

**Every day** I am going to the kitchen and cooking something new and so far, I have achieved good results by betting on simple but always very nutritious recipes and at least so far no one in my family is complaining about the final result.
Sometimes I take my "family's cookbook" and bet on some recreations with unusual adaptations. It doesn't always work as I imagined, but it tastes good.

**#03. READ MORE BOOKS**.

https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/wiseagent/DDpk2qC9-reading.jpg

[TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2019/12/03/gift-guide-12-must-read-books-for-2019-as-recommended-by-extra-crunch-readers/)

Since I was a kid, I always liked to read, but I never looked at books the way I should. I have to say that my commitment to them was sporadic, and during this confinement at home, I have been reading more books than I have read for many months. The change has been very visible (sometimes I think: *"I'm really reading a lot!"*) and it is doing me very well in so many ways.

My goal for this challenge is to read a new book every two or three days (and so far, everything is going as I planned). This pace has already made me read **five new books** (soon i will finish the sixth), from amazing and intriguing space adventures to historical knowledge. It is a wonderful journey and one that I need to keep going at full speed (although laziness sometimes wants to speak louder).

I highlighted only these three activities because they are the ones that I have been practicing every day and with relatively defined schedules, but of course there are others that if I were to write in this post it would be huge. However, I think I managed to send the message of what I’ve been learning and doing. Simple and easy goals, but they are of great importance for my human growth.
