There are a ton of noteworthy sieges throughout history, from as far back as before ancient Rome, all the way to today. WW1 and WW2 are littered with them. Siege - to me at least - always makes me think of swords and spears and trebuchets and shit... but it's not limited to the ancient world. Star Forts (the best forts) exist purely as anti-siege defences. The term applies as well to today as it did to events of the past, and will apply hundreds or thousands of years into the future. Have fun with it!
