I have not been involved in holding crypto that long, only a few months of trading although I have watched the technology since early on.
Because of this I made the stupid mistake of chasing profit in fiat over coin holding. So trading too often trying to play the bounce to gain.
The trouble is when you trade this way you can end up with lower holding even though you have gained in fiat. It depending on your re-entry it can chip away your actual holding. Had I just bought and held I would be in a better coin level now.
It's such a subtle mental leap but a vital one you have to learn. Thinking in crypto instead of fiat
I have now just split my holding across some projects I think have a good chance to grow. Safer at the moment.
So currently.
- Etherium - It has its faults, a cat game is pushing it hard. If the Etherium devs react well and solve the scaling this could be the meme DApp it needs to really boost it on.
- Ripple - [THIS](https://www.reuters.com/article/us-blockchain-amex-ripple/amex-launches-blockchain-based-business-payments-using-ripple-idUSKBN1DG1SX) is why Ripple. Huge story for this coin.
- Litecoin and Dash are shorter term while they benefit during the BTC price drop/bounce. With BTC reaching 220000+ unconfired transactions they look more workable payment systems and are on a good run.
With the switch in mentality I have stopped really tracking the charts. Ignore the bounces unless there is a strong trend down then play it to build holding further. Moving forward I will probably buy EOS, BAT, Golem as all are interesting projects.
I will just treat each holding as a bet on future bigger growth, that way you don't miss the spikes and hence the bigger real gains. An buy more later to spot balance my holdings.
So that is me, I finally grokked HODL. You have to think in crypto first not fiat.
