"Le Phare de La Coubre" - A Gouache Painting

Those of you who follow my blog regularly, have noticed that I was traveling the Charente-Maritime in France last month. <a href="/hive-163772/@wulff-media/france-volcanoes-steam-trains-islands-video-and-photo-story">(Video and photo story here.)</a> Of course, such trips result in the odd painting here and there.&nbsp; :-) &nbsp;So today I'm happy to present to you my painterly interpretation of the lighthouse of La Coubre.

I'm not a friend of en-plein-air painting. I would absolutely, positively hate to drag along an easel and painting utensils, only to roast in the heat and be gawked at and accosted by other tourists while painting. Above all, a quick photo is much more practical and less disruptive. I much prefer to live fully in the moment!

Many years ago, during my traveling days, I was also an avid videographer. Back then, to shoot video you had to lug around a separate box that was wired to your camera. When I think back on it, I almost can't believe that we have video gear by orders of magnitude better than that built into every mobile phone nowadays. Gear that fits comfortably into a shirt pocket...

Anyway, at some point it struck me that I was experiencing all my travel impressions mainly in black and white through the camera viewfinder, and couldn't really enjoy them until I was back home already! After this moment of enlightenment I sold all that video stuff on the spot, and I entered a long phase where I didn't even take a photo camera along anymore.

At some point, however, that turned out too little, and that's the reason why I come home with videos once again, but they often have "holes" in the story and are not really detailed and complete. Caroline and I enjoy our trips, and photo and video are byproducts that come about without interfering with the mood of the moment. In other words, if you've enjoyed ten sunsets, it's okay to pull out the camera for the eleventh and "sacrifice" a little...

_Wer meinem Blog regelmäßig folgt, hat mitbekommen, dass ich vergangenen Monat in der Charente-Maritime in Frankreich unterwegs war. <a href="/hive-163772/@wulff-media/france-volcanoes-steam-trains-islands-video-and-photo-story">(Video und Foto-Story hier!)</a> So ein Trip hat dann natürlich irgendwann auch das ein oder andere Gemälde zur Folge.&nbsp;_ :-) _&nbsp;Heute darf ich euch also meine malerische Interpretation des Leuchtturms von La Coubre präsentieren._

_Ich bin kein Freund der En-plein-air-Malerei. Es wäre mir zuwider, eine Staffelei und Malutensilien mitzuschleppen, um dann in der Hitze zu sitzen und mich beim Malen von anderen Touristen begaffen und von der Seite dumm anquatschen zu lassen. Vor allem ist ein schnelles Foto viel praktischer und weniger disruptiv. Ich mag es lieber, vollständig im jeweiligen Moment zu leben._

_Vor vielen Jahren, als ich noch mehr gereist bin, war ich auch schon begeisterter Videofilmer. Damals musste man zum Aufnehmen von Video noch eine separate Kiste rumschleppen, die mit der Kamera verkabelt war. Wenn ich daran zurückdenke, kann ich es fast nicht glauben, dass wir heute was tausendfach Besseres in jedem Mobiltelefon eingebaut haben, das bequem in die Hemdtasche passt..._

_Jedenfalls fiel mir irgendwann auf, dass ich meine gesamten Reiseeindrücke hauptsächlich durch den Kamerasucher in schwarz-weiß erlebte und erst genießen konnte, als ich schon wieder zuhause war! Nach dieser Erleuchtung verkaufte ich den ganzen Videokram auf der Stelle, und es fogte eine lange Phase, wo ich nicht einmal mehr einen Fotoapparat mitnahm._

_Das war dann irgendwann allerdings auch zuwenig, und das ist der Grund, warum ich heute zwar wieder Videos nach Hause bringe, die allerdings oft "Löcher" in der Story haben und nicht so richtig detailliert und vollständig sind. Caroline und ich genießen unsere Trips, und Foto und Video sind Beiprodukte, die anfallen, wenn es nicht stört. Anders ausgedrückt, wenn man zehn Sonnenuntergänge genossen hat, kann man für den elften ruhig mal die Kamera zücken und das Gefühl des Moments "opfern"..._

Wie bereits bei anderen Gelegenheiten erwähnt, genieße ich von Mal zu Mal die wort- und bildreiche Aufarbeitung eurer Reisen. Ich darf jedoch nicht unerwähnt lassen, von den Zusammenschnitten der Drohnenflüge nicht minder begeistert gewesen zu sein. 
Zu deinem heutigen Post, den ich um diese Uhrzeit nur deshalb verarbeiten kann, *weils bei uns seit zwääh Daach schitt ohne Änn*, habe ich nur anzumerken, dass ein Saarländer sich nicht vom flanierenden Touristenpack disruptiv interruptieren lässt, sondern mehr oder weniger gelangweilt nachfragt: **"Kaafe odder nur bleed gugge?"**  
Außerdem sei darauf hingewiesen, dass der **Le Phare de La Coubre** über einen Sockel verfügt, der schachförmig rot-weiß bepinselt wurde. Nun gönne deinem Augenmerk einen kurzen Ausflug auf das Wappen Kroatiens und das übliche Trikot von Mainz 05 (Partnerstadt von Zagreb). Ich meine, du kannst Dinge künstlerisch unterschlagen, *awwer jetz haschdes doch e bissje zu weid getriieb.*

Also erschdens, so gefallds ma besser, oone Schachbrett, ohne Audos, oone Leid, unn oone der ganse Klimbim drumrum. KAAFE ODA NUR MAULE???

Ehrlich gesagt, ich will ja nichts verkaufen, aber das läge schon auf der Hand. Mancher Passant würde es vielleicht als Erinnerungsstück mitnehmen, wenn es nicht gar zu teuer ist, sogar am A. der Welt in La Tremblade. Die Place du Tertre z.B. ist voll mit Malern, die mit diesen flotten Produktionen einen schwunghaften Handel betreiben.

Ich hingegen habe vor zwei Jahren ein paar Bilder bei einer Art Show in Ramstein verkauft, und die Dinger hinterher richtig vermisst. Vanitas vanitatum dixit ecclesiastes vanitas vanitatum omnia vanita! Ich musste sie zum Schluss wieder malen, um Ruhe zu haben, aber es war eben nicht dasselbe. Komisch, oder?

Meiner Ansicht nach die falsche Herangehensweise. Eitelkeit hat hier keinen Platz. Es konzentriert sich auf etwas, womit man für immer verbunden zu sein scheint. Um sich nie vom Lieblingskind trennen zu müssen, hat der Liebe Gott den Siebdruck erfunden. 5/20 kann gehen, doch bleibt der Schatz zu Hause.
