BeePool, the world's fourth largest Ethereum mining by hash power [today announced](https://support.beepool.org/hc/zh-cn/articles/4407131055513-%E5%85%B3%E4%BA%8E%E8%BF%91%E6%9C%9F%E5%81%9C%E6%AD%A2%E7%9F%BF%E6%B1%A0%E6%9C%8D%E5%8A%A1%E7%9A%84%E9%80%9A%E7%9F%A5) that they will suspend their services in China at 23:59 on October 15, 2021. The registration for new users has already been suspended effective immediately.</div>

<div class="text-justify">
The announcement came amid the regulatory and compliance concerns arising from the China's recent crackdown on crypto currencies. The recent crackdown is believed to more intense than the previous one, with Chinees Central Bank declaring barring all institutions from offering services related to crypto currencies, dealing with off shore exchanges and crypto-fiat conversions. </div>

<div class="text-justify">
BeeePool's announcement came just a few hour after 'SparkPool', Chinees mining pool (2nd largest) decided suspending their operations from Sept. 30. SparkPool accounts for 19% of the global Ethereum hash rate, whereas BeePool controls 8.12%.</div>

<div class="text-justify">
Two of the biggest mining pool exiting the network is a big blow indeed since Ethereum network is Proof of Work based(at least for now). Apparently Ethereum mining pools are following the footsteps of Bitcoin miners exodus. Bitcoin network's hash rate almost has almost recovered as of now in a few months after taking the hit, so same can be hoped for Ethereum.</div>

<div class="text-justify">
The much awaited Ethereum 2.0 switching from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake consensus mechanism will solve the network hash rate problem permanently. So recent mining power exiting the network might prove a blessing in disguise, as it can push the Ethereum community to work more zealously towards Ethereum 2.0. Who knows before the biggest network upgrade(2.0) might come in effect, before the lost network hash rate fully recovers.</div>
