Golem Network, a decentralized computing resources sharing platform today launched an Ethereum mining app that will allow users to easily mine cryptocurrency on Windows based PCs or laptops.</div>

Named Thorg, the mining app powered by Golem Network, featuring Layer 2 payments built on Polygon will provide users an easy and intuitive way to harness the unspent computational power of their PCs for proof of work mining.</div>

However, miners are awarded Golem’s native GLM token(ERC-20) instead of Ethereum. Utilization of Layer 2 solution Polygon ensures fast and cost effective transactions of mining rewards.</div>

Using Thorg app is easy... just download, install and run the miner. The app runs in the back ground utilizing unspent computational resources and for now supports only GPU mining. The minimum requirements for GPU mining are Windows 10 and 6 gigabytes of GPU. Since 6 gigabytes GPUs are only found in high end gaming systems, so currently Thorg app is of no use to average Joe with a PC having mediocre specifications. However there are plans to introduce CPU mining in the future.</div>

However, when it comes to profitability things gets a bit shadowy. A 6GB graphics card would produce a maximum hash rate of 25MH/s and assuming average power consumption of 600 watts, the profits from mining Ether on a PC via Throg app would be just $0.02 per day.</div>

Well, mining revenue of just $0.02 per day isn't that much, moreover capital cost of 6 GB GPU hasn't been accounted. So Thorg app isn't a specialized mining solution, however Thorg miner running in back ground consuming spare resources wouldn't heart(even if it is making pennies).</div>
