## El Rescate
##
La colmena terrestre estaba situada a las orillas de un pequeño lago de quietas y cristalinas aguas, la orilla estaba fortificada por gigantescas lozas erguidas de forma dispareja, tras ellas se ocultaban varios edificios bajos de forma octogonal, el principal, la colmena misma, tenia unos ocho metros de alto y cincuenta de diámetro; en realidad la colmena era una instalación subterránea que se extendía en un radio de quinientos metros y cuyo centro era el edificio principal, cada una de sus caras era flanqueada por un edificio más pequeño pero de mayor altura, en el que reposaba una batería antiaérea, habían sido elevadas ahí, desde la llegada de la naves humanas. Al norte de la colmena a unos dos kilómetros se encontraba el hangar, desde donde eran lanzadas las naves terrestres, para lo cual eran empleadas diez lanzaderas que rodeaban el edificio, una suerte de rampas que se proyectaban desde túneles subterráneos que conectaba con las instalaciones subterráneas del edificio.

Antes del ataque una bomba de plasma fue lanzada y hecho estallar a unos quinientos metros sobre la colmena de los terrestres, la explosión deshabilitó sus sistemas de comunicaciones y sensores, quince caza-bombarderos atacaron el hangar terrestre destruyendo las lanzaderas y los cazas que se encontraban en posición de despegue, no pasaría mucho tiempo antes de que la colmena más próxima se percatara de que algo estaba pasando y se movilizaran sus fuerzas.

La nave desembarco se situó unos cinco metros sobre el techo del edificio principal y dejo caer un disco de perforación, la versión militar de los dispositivos usados por los exploradores para excavar en la roca, esté tenia unos cuatro metros de diámetro y en lugar de brocas un cortador de plasma de diez mil grados kelvin de temperatura, el disco horadó los diez niveles de la colmena en cuestión de cuarenta segundos, fundiendo el metal y haciendo estallar el concreto a su paso. Al llegar al piso de celdas, donde estaba el prisionero, se detuvo y desde la nave se desplegó un ducto cilíndrico en forma de acordeón, que se acopló al perforador, el final del agujero de casi treinta metros de profundidad que había hecho en la colmena.

-¡Rápido todo el mundo abajo, como lo practicamos!, ¡muévase!, ¡muévanse!, ¡muévanse! - gritaba el teniente Parker, a la vez que apresuraba a los quince efectivos militares a lanzarse por el ducto, para terminar saltado él tras el último del equipo.

La gravedad en el ducto era diferente a la del planeta, el descenso si bien no era lento, tampoco era violento, el ducto era traslucido, pero ligeramente opaco, a medida que caían por él podían ver las siluetas de los terrestres tratando de rasgarlo y disparándoles a su paso, sus armas y herramientas no tenían ni la potencia ni la tecnología para dañar el material del que estaba hecho, al llagar al final sus exoesqueletos amortiguaron la caída, emitiendo violentos estruendos cuando sus pies impactaban sobre el perforador, los primeros en llegar plegaron las paredes del ducto y abrieron paso para los que venían tras ellos, fuera del ducto los terrestres les atacaron con sus armas, sus municiones eran absorbidas y detenidas por el campo de repulsión que emitían los exoesqueletos. 

Los que iban saliendo del ducto simplemente se detuvieron a esperar, bajo la andanada de disparos terrestres, la llegada del cabo Daniels, quien fue en octavo en saltar de la nave, cuando éste estuvo abajo, se ubicó en medio del arco que habían formado los otros siete soldados alrededor de la salida del ducto y colocó en el suelo un trípode con un dispositivo de forma circular que asemejaba un plato, el cual tras manipularlo encendió una luz indicadora en su cubierta y tras esto, los terrestres cayeron al suelo aparentemente retorciéndose del dolor hasta quedar completamente inmóviles, paralizados pero consientes.

Los quince operativos militares y el teniente Parker ya se encontraban todos en el nivel de celdas y empezaron a moverse hasta la habitación donde estaba el prisionero, al llegar a la entrada se detuvieron y Parker coloco un dispositivo en la pared de la habitación.

-¡Capitán Ortega!, le habla el teniente Parker de la brigada de operaciones especiales de la Nave Herbert IV, venimos por usted señor, por favor retírese de la pared cierre sus ojos, cubra sus oídos y contenga la respiración- dijo Parker, en el monitor de su casco podía ver la imagen térmica de Ortega dentro de la habitación que recibía desde el sensor que había adherido a la pared.

Cuando vio que se arrinconó y acuclilló en una esquina de la habitación, señalo a la pared y uno de los soldados a su derecha se alejó unos tres metros para tomar impulso y arremetió con su hombro contra la pared, su exoesqueleto emitió un destello verde mientras golpeaba la pared abriéndole un gran boquete, se sintió el siseo del intercambio de gases de la atmosfera interna y la externa, otro soldado entró tras el que derribo la pared, y de su cinto tomó un respirador y rápidamente lo puso sobre la cabeza de Ortega y le conecto un pequeño tanque de oxígeno en uno de los extremos.

El capitán Ortega lucia débil y desorientado, camino con la ayuda de uno de los soldados, quien lo guio hasta ponerse de pie bajo el ducto y sobre el disco perforador, los soldados se replegaron y subieron todos sobre el disco, con excepción del teniente Parker, quien retiró de la pared de la habitación el sensor y luego se dirigió a uno de los terrestres que permanecían aun inmóviles tendidos sobre el rugoso piso de la colmena. Sabia por su estatura superior a la de los demás y su tercer apéndice craneal, que se trataba de uno de los líderes de nivel medio en su estructura jerárquica.

-Preste atención a lo que le estoy diciendo para que lo informe a sus superiores- hizo un pausa antes de empezar a leer el mensaje que se proyectaba en el monitor de su casco- Hemos tratado de comunicarnos con ustedes y no hemos recibido respuesta, sabemos que nos entienden porque nos hemos encargado de que así sea, somos los habitantes originales de este planeta, pero no tenemos intenciones de recuperarlo, sólo estamos aquí para recobrar algunos objetos que son de un interés netamente histórico para nosotros- Parker hizo un pausa antes de continuar.

Parker se incorporó y tomó del piso el dispositivo de aturdimiento, subió al disco y el ducto que se encontraba replegado se volvió a acoplar, para luego retraerse de regreso a la nave en su camino de regreso, los militares humanos podían ver como los terrestres seguían inútilmente tratando de romper el ducto, una vez que estuvo completamente retraído, la nave de desembarco se elevo verticalmente casi sin emitir ningún ruido, tras ella ascendieron los caza-bombarderos. La operación había durado trece minutos, dos menos de lo que estaba planificado, había culminado sin bajas o heridos de parte de ninguno de los dos bandos, sólo la colmena, sus lanzaderas de cazas y ocho de sus naves resultaron afectadas.

He knew for his stature superior to the one of the others and his third cranial appendix, that was one of the leaders of average level in his hierarchic structure.

The operation had lasted thirteen minutes, two less than what had been planned, it had culminated without casualties or injuries on the part of either side, only the hive, its fighter launchers and eight of its ships were affected.
