Naufragando despues de un accidentado viaje en canoa pude llegar a tierra, una pequeña isla que mostraba una excelente apariencia, un suelo salino cubierto de palmas adornaban el escenario, yo agotado de tanto nadar solo pude dejarme caer sobre la arena blanca, de repente un ardor comencé a sentir en mi espalda, un extraño liquido de color marrón salía de la tierra, una especie de acido a base de sodio irritaba rapidamente mi piel. Volví al agua para quitarme la locion ácida, al parecer una fuente liquida a base de hierro estaba mezclandose con la sal para producir esa acidez en el suelo, tal vez las plantas sean tambien acidas por estar expuestas a este tipo de suelo.

## Después del Éxodo

Después de desactivado el ascensor orbital, el ingreso a la Tierra sólo se podía hacer por cápsulas de descenso, lanzadas desde las aun operativas estaciones Pegasus y Cetus. A la vista de muchos, ya no había nada que buscar en la superficie del planeta, todo equipamiento o material de valor, dejado atrás durante el éxodo, ya había sido transportado fuera del planeta, y eran pocos los minerales importantes que hubiese en la Tierra que no pudiesen ser extraídos de otro lugar, con más facilidad y en mayor volumen.

Después del, siempre violento, ingreso de la capsula en la atmósfera, Oswald, uno de los pocos pilotos que aun quedaba en funciones, operando este tipo de vuelos desde Cetus a la Tierra, guio el pequeño artefacto con forma triangular, hasta la playa más cercana, en el norte del continente. Conducía a un pequeño grupo de cinco investigadores que venían a tomar nuevas muestras de la concentración de tóxicos en el agua y aire.

Después de aterrizar en la playa, el equipo se internó en el territorio, a bordo de un vehículo impulsado por orugas, guiado por el propio Oswald, en busca de un pequeño valle que los mapas indicaban, debía estar a poco más de diez kilómetros. A pesar de los altos niveles de toxicidad del agua, aun subsistía escasa vegetación herbácea en las costas, sin embargo, por efecto de la desertización, causada por el aumento de la temperatura, mientras más se alejaban de la playa, menos era el verdor que se veía y empezaba a predominar el color naranja de la tierra yerma.

Al aproximarse a las montañas pudieron ver un antiguo cauce, ahora completamente seco, cruzaron entre los escarpados riscos, justo donde una vez estuvo, lo que debió ser un caudaloso rio. Al cruzar el paso, se encontraron con el valle, aun en él persistía un pequeño y contaminado lago, sus aguas, intensamente azules, ocultaban lo que debía ser una mortal mezcla de agentes tóxicos. 

Cuando se disponían a tomar muestras del agua y la tierra de los alrededores, pudieron ver, en medio del vaho que nublaba el valle, lo que parecía ser una especie de rudimentario embarcadero, a unos ochenta metros de donde estaban, en lo que solía ser antiguamente la orilla del lago y un poco más allá, cerca de las paredes de la montaña, varias pequeñas construcciones en ruinas.

Según lo que les indicaban los registros, nunca hubo un pueblo en esta zona, había sido frecuentada por excursionistas y campistas sí, pero nunca hubo algo así como un asentamiento permanente. ¿De dónde habían salido aquellas cabañas?

Se aproximaron y pudieron ver que se trataba de unas doce viviendas prefabricadas, de las que, para los años previos al éxodo, aún se podían comprar de una compañía que aun hoy existía en las colonias, y a la que en parte se le debía buena parte de las construcciones del sector de granjas de Marte.

Las casas estaban completamente vacías, aun conservaban el ahora destruido mobiliario, corroído y putrefacto, sus ennegrecidas paredes aun tenían estanterías aéreas y retratos casi indescifrables, en sus descoloridas imágenes, se podían ver familias aparentemente felices, niños jugando en lo que parecía ser un parque, que momentos después pudieron encontrar tras las viviendas, gente sentada en el embarcadero, viendo la puesta de sol entre las montañas, y una variedad de escenas familiares, que hubiesen sido difíciles de reproducir, por los habitantes de las colonias, confinados en espacios reducidos y superpoblados.

—Doctor Marcus, por favor venga a la tercera vivienda hacia el norte, tiene que ver algo —se escuchó decir la voz de Oswald en la radio de todos los investigadores.

En la casa se encontraba los parcialmente momificados restos de un hombre, cuyas ropas casi habían desaparecido degradadas por el tiempo y la descomposición del cadáver. —Ye hemos visto todas las viviendas es el único cuerpo en todo el lugar —dijo uno de los investigadores.

They approached and could see that it was about twelve prefabricated houses, of which, for the years before the exodus, could still be bought from a company that still existed today in the colonies, and which was partly owed much of the construction of the farms sector of Mars.

An Inner Peace.

Here I am, between the breeze of a silent sea and the smell of a healthy vegetation, pretending that nothing happens to spend a different day. It is inner peace that I seek, that which gives energy to my life, which takes me to a new world without attire, which eliminates superficial needs and helps me to achieve the pleasure of living again.

Serene as the waters and flaming like the clouds, this is how I feel today, between the joy for what I have and the happiness for what is to come. It is a natural sensation that enhances my spirit like never before and that helps my deepest feelings to flourish.

Una Paz Interior.

Aquí estoy, entre la brisa de una mar silencioso y el olor de una vegetación saludable, fingiendo que nada sucede para pasar un dia diferente. Es la paz interior la que busco, esa que reposta de energía mi vida, que me lleva a un mundo nuevo y sin atavios, que elimina las necesidades superficiales y me ayude a conseguir ese placer de vivir nuevamente.

Sereno como las aguas y flameando como las nubes, así me siento hoy, entre la alegría por lo que tengo y la felicidad por lo que está por venir. Es una sensación natural que enaltece de buena vibra mi espiritu como nunca antes ha sucedido y que ayuda a florecer mis más profundos sentimientos.

**A place to breathe**
