## Oculto en el Bosque
##
Si bien, sabía que esto era su trabajo y que para ello se preparó en la academia, nunca pensó que llegaría el día que tuviese que enfrentarse con una situación tan aterradora. Una alarma le avisó en su interfaz de comunicación, que ya era la hora de levantarse para ir a la oficina; había perdido el sentido del tiempo y pasó casi seis horas sentado frente al canal, simplemente observando el agua, perdido en el recuerdo de las imágenes que hace poco menos de treinta y seis horas acababa de presenciar.

Aun faltaban unas dos horas para el amanecer, las luces de los edificios en forma de pirámide del Departamento de Defensa, donde él trabajaba y el faro del obelisco de la plaza central de la ciudad, se reflejaban plácidamente en las calmas aguas del canal, parecían llamarlo, convocarlo a la aterradora realidad que lo agobiaba desde hace tres semanas.

El canal que frente a él estaba, cruzaba Polaris dividiéndola casi exactamente a la mitad, en el lado norte se encontraban la sede del Triunvirato, todos los edificios de gobierno y zonas comerciales y turísticas, mientras que al sur estaban las unidades habitacionales y flanqueando a estás, uno de los interminables y casi inexplorados bosques que cubrían la mayor parte de la tierra emergida de Heracles.

Oliver había llegado a Heracles directamente desde Perseo, donde nació y vivió toda su infancia y juventud, su padre fue director de la División de Defensa del Orden Publico en Perseo 5 y el siguió sus mismos pasos, en la academia, siempre mostró actitudes de empatía y análisis crítico, así como valores de honestidad y apego a las reglas y el orden, además de grandes aptitudes y destrezas físicas y un alto sentido del deber, así que no fue extraños que su formación se orientara a las leyes, psicología y criminología.

Cuando se le propuso ocupar el cargo de director, el mismo que una vez tuvo su padre, pero en Polaris, no lo dudo y de inmediato emigró a Heracles, para establecerse en ésta su ciudad más populosa.

Este idílico mundo de bosques de extraños y hermosos árboles de follaje predominantemente rojo, naranja, rosa y violeta, sede de las más pacíficas y amables ciudades de todos los mundos colonizados, se había vuelto el escenario de la más perturbadora y mórbida, serie de crímenes jamás ocurrida, desde que Perseo fue colonizada.

Ya empezaba a amanecer, cuando decidió levantarse de aquel banco frente al canal, en el que había pasado buena parte de la noche, perdido en sus pensamientos, no había dormido, ni comido desde hace poco más de cuarenta horas, se sentía extenuado física y mentalmente. Decidió tomar el trasbordador para ir a la oficina, no pasaría por su habitación, sólo comería algo en la estación de la embarcación, antes de abordarla.

Los bosques de los alrededores de Polaris eran densos y poblados sólo por algunos pocos animales que fueron las primeras formas de vida animal sembradas por los colonizadores de Perseo. Originalmente Heracles era un mundo exclusivamente poblado por formas de vida vegetal, pero fueron introducidos ciervos, alces, zorros, liebres, roedores y varios cientos de tipos de aves, e insectos, además de algunas nuevas especies vegetales que contribuían a proporcionar alimento a los animales incluidos al ecosistema, en general los bosques eran lugares pacíficos y seguros, los animales solían estar alejados de las ciudades, manteniéndose en las partes más profundas del bosque, sólo las aves, insectos y roedores se acercaban a las zonas pobladas por los humanos.

Al llegar a las oficinas de la dirección, se encontró nuevamente con el revuelo que no quería ver, varias caras alarmadas lo vieron, a su paso por los pasillos llenos de escritorios de agentes y oficiales del orden público, cerca de su oficina lo intercepto el detective Alberto Alfonso, con una expresión de pesadez, que delataba la noticia que le iba a comunicar.

-Buen día director Di Gregorio, encontraron otro- dijo agachando la mirada.

-De acuerdo comuníquele al puerto que voy a necesitar que me lleven al lugar, ¿dónde fue esta vez? -pregunto Oliver inexpresivo

Era el segundo cuerpo hallado en dos días, y el sexto en las últimas tres semanas, cuando había empezado esta serie de homicidios, la primera en la historia de la era de Perseo.
