The Wavy Tea Hills of Munnar

*Curvy paths through wavy hills, gently climbing to the top of the mountain*

Not much after visiting the Indian desert in the North East of India, I travelled all the way down to visit the Teafields in the South. It was located higher in the mountains and since it was summer and pretty hot, it was a nice escape from the 45 degrees desert to a comfortable 25 degrees. But that isn't what I came for. I believe that wavy teafields are truly one of the most beautiful landscapes you can find.

At the hostel I stayed I met a group of people who asked me to join them for a walk. Since I definitely wanted to see the teafields I said yes. That's what I came for! I have seen very nice teafields in Malaysia and I just love it. And I can say, here it looked even better! The area has more tea! Wherever you look, tea, tea, tea!

During the walk we shared stories, jokes and laughs. It is wonderful what kinda beautiful stories you get to hear from the strangers you meet everyday on the road. The girl who joined, I don't even remember her name but I do remember her amazing story. She was making a documentary about elephants in a nearby national park, mainly focused on how humans take the livingspace away and elephants sometimes end up in villages. Farmers might hurt them to protect their lands and vegetables. Although it is very illegal to hurt an elephant. Those kinda stories make you richer as a person.

Today our hike is going through the teafields to the top of the mountain, curious to the views we will meet at the top!

By the way, if you are ever planning to go here, be aware of leeches because they are plenty here. Some paths were a little muddy and that's where they were hanging out. Luckily none of us got attacked by those little fellows but they managed to make me pretty paranoid.. Oops.

The paths are all curving around the hills and free of any other tourists. The only people we saw were some workers and a beautiful Indian woman. Probably the locals are already all tired of those views.

The higher we reach, the cloudier it becomes. Large moments of our time on the top, we couldn't see anything. But we had some moments where we could see the most wonderful view through the clouds.

After some slightly disappointing views from the top we went back home. But the clouds gave the landscape a moody but majestic look as you can see on the pictures below. I am pretty satisfied with the pictures I took. I had such a hard time choosing!
