Last night the wind blew so hard that I had a hard time sleeping. And this morning, when I opened the window when it was light outside, there was a blizzard and about 5 cm of snow had piled up.

When it snows, I used to enjoy building snowmen and having snowball fights when I was a child. Even now, I think it is beautiful when there is a little bit of snow on the ground, but if there is too much snow on the ground, I am afraid to go outside.

Where I live, we don't get much snow in winter. It snows only about twice a year. So I don't have boots or snow shoveling equipment. I hear on the news about people falling off roofs while shoveling snow, but I don't think there is enough snow here to shovel. It should be, but it keeps snowing today and I don't know what will happen. ......

If it keeps snowing after this, it will be a bit of a problem. I can make do with some tofu and natto in the fridge for now, and some leftover beans from Setsubun that I left outside, but I don't have any food after that. I have to go out to buy some food when lunchtime approaches. I am worried about whether I will be able to go shopping.

I remember the year before last, when I was returning from an exhibition in Hiroshima and the bullet train was delayed due to heavy snow. There was a line of people at Kyoto Station waiting for buses and taxis to return home, but they never came. I remember that I had no choice but to wait for about an hour in the bitter cold and then take a bus back home.

The temperature has dropped to about -3 degrees Celsius, and the heater is not working well. After I have finished my shopping today, I will stay in the kotatsu and not move.

昨晩は風が強く吹いてなかなか寝付けませんでした。そして今朝、外が明るくなった頃窓を開けたら吹雪で、5cmぐらい積もっていました。

雪が降ったら雪だるまを作ったり、雪合戦をしたりというのが楽しいのは子どもの頃の話。今もほんの少し雪化粧するならきれいだと思うけれど、あまりたくさん積もったら外へ出られず恐怖でしかないです。

私の住むところは冬でもあまり雪が積もりません。雪が積もるのは年に２回ぐらいです。だからブーツも持っていないし、雪かきの道具も持っていません。ニュースで雪かきをしていたら屋根から落ちたとか、そんなニュースを聞きますが、こちらでは雪かきをするほど雪は積もらないはずです。はずなのですが、今日は雪が降り続いてどうなることやら……。

この後も雪が降り続いたら、ちょっと困ります。今は冷蔵庫の中の豆腐とか、納豆とか、あと外に置いてある節分の残りの豆を食べてしのげますが、それ以降のご飯がありません。昼が近づいたら買い出しに出かけなければなりません。ちゃんと買い出しに行けるのか心配です。

一昨年だったか、広島での個展の帰りに大雪で新幹線が遅れ、京都駅には帰りのバスやタクシーを待つ人々で並んでいたけれども、なかなか来なかったことを思い出します。特にタクシーは１台も待っていなかったし、来ることもありませんでした。仕方なく１時間ぐらい厳寒の中待ってバスで帰ったことを思い出しました。

気温も-3℃ぐらいまで下がっており、暖房の効きが悪いです。もう今日は買い出しを済ませたら、コタツにもぐって動きません。
