Around one week ago, a minor miracle occurred, here, on Hive, which I’ve been slowly processing.

Scrolling through Twitter, one day, I read a tweet that echoed something I’d written in my first book, [Signposts](https://youtu.be/O6zHo9FI9ck) about ‘Miracles only revealing themselves to those who Believe’.

I took this as a sign to attempt, yet again, and recover my old Hive account —which I had transferred from Steemit, and contained over 3 years worth of my sayings : around $5000 (at Hive’s current value).

So I created a blog post, offering a $1000 award, while  knowing that my chances were slim, since I’d tried with techies on Hive and off, for nearly a year with no luck.

Then, for the first time I found that I was able to upvote or downvote using the posting key to my old Hive account (which was saved on my iphone).

I can’t quite explain it but, like the tweet about miracles which led me to try yet again, I felt like something had shifted— a giant implacable bolder had given just a little and it seemed like it was once again possible to have a breakthrough.

Tarazkp answered my post, declining the financial award and offering to help me recover my account.  

He was the first person of all those that  I had consulted in previous months  — @theycallmedan, guiltyparties , @acidyo, @good-karma, and many many others —who looked at my lost account and made the remark that my Hive account had ***not*** been recovered from Steemit.

As I tried my old Steemit password, again, having tried it innumerable times before, something I can’t explain felt different somehow (even though I was still not able to get through). 

I got a notification telling me it might be a problem of lower and uppercase letters, hinting I was close and encouraging me to keep at it.

I took a leap of faith and asked Taraz if he would be willing to look at my password, via email, and see if he might figure out what I was doing wrong. I’d known Taraz on and off since I landed on planet Steemit and had  profound faith in his integrity.

Luckily, he agreed to give it a shot and I sent him a near indecipherable scan of my Steemit password scribbled on a scrap of paper. 

Minutes passed like short eternitiesl, as I kept praying and checking my email compulsively, refusing to lose Hope.

Around one hour passed, and I received a serious message from Taraz notifying me that he’d tried several times, unsuccessfully. Then, playfully, he added at the end of his note —until  the last attempt, when he was able  to recover my account for me and had changed my passwords!

I was overcome with relief, near tears, and could not believe my good fortune 🙌🏼

That he was willing to give it a shot at all, taking time out of his life for a near stranger, and managed to restore to me my savings (without even accepting a financial reward!) I consider to be a *minor miracle*.

 He must be an angel…

I wanted to write and say how profoundly grateful I am for his generosity of spirit. Thank you, Taraz, for always being ready to help and giving, unstintingly and altruistically, of yourself and time.

There are very good people in this world and our community. While one should not trust blindly, and this cautionary tale should encourage readers to take extra care to protect their passwords, amazing stories with a happy ending like mine do happen 🤗

I had not only recovered my old account, and much-needed savings, but also my faith in humanity was renewed as well as my allegiance to Hive community
