Hi everyone…..
 
Now long ago I wrote this article and reintroduced myself and spoke of the psychological, emotional, and spiritual roller coaster of my WHOLE ONE WEEK.  It was intense and I described what I went through with my changes of intentions….  frustrations of being a minnow… comparing myself to others… etc.. This is the first post where I applied what I learned the first time.  And for the first time I am not refreshing a page for the next 16 hours seeing $0.01 climbing to $0.22 and then not climbing at all.   And I explained why that happens.   And that most of us are doing everything we can and doing everything right without making a difference to that frustrating reality.  I am now just onto 100 followers….  And in the first 30 seconds… $30..  Next minute $60…  Now on about $80  (that was a few hours ago)....  Needless to say I feel like this…

In the first article….How Minnows and Newbies can get lots of upvotes….    I wrote about how to do this by living through the experience with the reader and sharing the excitement of the process.  It was an emotional yet technical post.   In this post I will be writing about what is inside me that allowed me to do this.  Something I learned long ago that I conditioned through many life experiences that has awakened when I needed it to create a breakthrough for me…  And this is one of these cases………..  I will also be applying this article to the technology and system that the previous article was applied to as a living example…..

Let’s bring the focus back to how we can all help each other succeed on steemit.  There are a few fundamental concepts of success Mr Robbins taught me.   But I would like to talk about one today.

I will explain these according to my understanding without the aid of google or any books and I have practiced refining these within me for 20 years now…   And if you like the next link to a short video explains it using some nice visual aids for more visual and auditory inclined friends here when it comes to concepts:

After we explore the core essence these 6 human needs that drive all human behaviour.  I will talk about these again in the context of steemit.   In life these six needs can help us succeed to unimaginable heights, or destroy us and push is to the depths of hell.   In steemit… understanding these can make the difference between become a FULFILLED STEEM WHALE...

Here are the first four needs….   Thing you need to know is that the first four human needs are always met in one way or another.  They can be guided consciously and met in an empowering way…..  Or they can be met by default and sometimes in very destructive ways….and the destruction can be to other people even loved ones.   FOrtunately the opposite is true as well.
 
 
THE NEED FOR CERTAINTY  
 
All humans have a need for certainty and stability.  None of us can sustain a life where we NEVER know what is going to happen next.  Some of us on this planet don't know when we will next eat….  Some farmers don’t know when the next rainfall will occur…  Some of us hopelessly in love don’t know when he or she is going to text or call next…  We all have a need to feel secure and safe and in control.  Those of us who value this too much will never take even the slightest risk, and most likely achieve nothing.  Those of us who do not value this at all are likely to do something reckless and hurt ourselves in all contexts…

2.  THE NEED FOR UNCERTAINTY
 
If things were certain all the time we would be bored shitless…..  So we need UNCERTAINTY otherwise known as variety….   This is what makes life fun… mysterious… delicious….and the spice of life…   If this was valued too much we may act irresponsibly and tell ourselves the story that we are bored and we may ever stay with one thing long enough to ever see success.  However if we don’t value uncertainty at all we would take no risks and make no gains….  In life… in love… and in wealth…..

3.  LOVE AND CONNECTION
 
Every single human being that has ever lived, that is alive now, and will live have a need for love and or connection at some point in their lives.  Think about it, if you are here now...someone has cared for you somewhere along the way.  Little babies are born helpless and will die if not cared for.  And new mothers have OXYTOCIN surging through their veins.  Connection with human being comes in many many forms….   It can be as simple as a smile to a stranger, it can be making love to the love of your life, and it can be holding your child and feeling the profound love of being a parent.

4.  SIGNIFICANCE
 
All of us need to feel significant.  This can be done through so many vehicles…  through a souse,.. by being a parent….though our work...by our achievements….    When this need is not achieved it can eat at us more than others.  This need is the one that is closest to our EGO.  One can do a great service to others and feel a warm significance from that…..   While another can demand it by pointing a gun on another person’s face and have instant significance….    But they will lead to very different long and short term outcomes…

Now the last two human need are not met by everyone….   While the first four needs are met ON PURPOSE or BY DEFAULT.  These last two needs are a conscious choice…..
 
Here is the catch…..     Humans can only be fulfilled if all six needs are met….     WIthout the last two needs we only function….   WIth all six…. we THRIVE…..
 
 
 
 
5. GROWTH
 
This is the sense that we are progressing….growing...getting better…. moving towards a direction of something we are trying to achieve.   Success build on successes, and momentum is created in this way.   As you can see this mostly does not happen by default.  And the feeling of growth is a high that is irreplaceable.

6. CONTRIBUTION
 
The most sacred need of all is to give back.  As those who give are those who can give.  You have all heard of what goes around comes around.  It is not a superstition… it is a science…   as it changes your beliefs….   And in doing that  it changes your behaviour…. And in doing that you change your actions…..  This leads to a different result…   here is the good news…. Everyone has something to give….  a kind gesture…  a smile…..
 
Those who consciously choose to give nothing to no one are often very unhappy…  they are not bad people… but are just very unfulfilled.

This applied to all areas of life in all human beings…..   And depending on which needs we value the most, the outcome can be very different.  Imagine the difference between a person who puts significance first compared to a person who puts contribution first.    Also any activity or substance that can meet three of the first for needs instantly and simultaneously is ADDICTIVE.    Imagine a person snorting cocain…..    CERTAINTY of a sensation…..   UNCERTAINTY from alleviation from boredom…...CONNECTION with one's self or worse yet with someone else snorting with you…    Pretty powerful right…… but not a vehicle that is very good for you.
 
 
 
STEEMIT has many of us here day and night…. fatigued or fresh…  Many of us come back time and time again….    Can you see that this social media platform meets 2 or more needs at once?   Think about it….     This can be FULFILLING and increase the quality of our lives… or it can destroy us……   depending on what needs we value the most when we are on here.

Let’s revisit these six human needs… this time let’s apply this to steemit……

CERTAINLY in steemit, as we get familiar with the platform and know what will happen next when we take certain actions, it gets us coming back time and time again.   We post, it gets upvotes….   The first time it gave us a rush, a few times later it feels like an EFFECT from the CAUSE of our labour of love….    This brings about good neuro associations to all the details here like the navigation and the colours….     How many of us turn on the computer and repeat CERTAIN habits over and over again without even thinking about it.   Like REFRESHING THE BLOG page?  Lol.        It is good to have a safe and happy place to go to like steemit.com but don;t get lost in it :)

2. UNCERTAINTY in steemit
 
The rich and boundless content here from one person’s blog to the whole steemit universe is awesome…..    There is something for everyone and the next person…    Readers can be here learning something new for hours or more having all four of their main emotions triggered.   And what about the addictive practice of looking at the same pages over and over again for SOMETHING DIFFERENT?   You guys know which page I am talking about :)  If we give too much to this need we can be here for hours and neglect other areas of our life… and looking for variations too often when they don’t can lead to frustrations many of us have felt.   But without some VARIETY.. We would be bored and never come back.   Balance by friends……

3. LOVE/CONNECTION in steemit
 
To me I see connecting with other people in replies and comments is a real high here on steemit.  And I am still buzzing from all the thanks and love I received after writing https://steemit.com/steemit/@yoda1917/how-minnows-and-newbies-can-get-lots-of-upvotes
I am very blessed to receive all this kindness and connection.    However I can see that it can be a bit easy to get caught up and addicted to that.   If that was the case I would be a mess when it does not happen.  I believe there is nothing bad in connecting and giving each other help and kind words.  This community only works if we all help each other benefit.   No minnow can grow into a whale without the support and connection of others.   So get connecting :)

4. SIGNIFICANCE in steemit
 
Without a doubt…. Getting upvotes is the biggest vehicle of feeling significant here…..   It is what sets steemit apart from other social media platforms…    Many of us minnows dredge at it day and night….     I’d say be careful not to place too much heart on this though….  As when it does not happen it will make us feel insignificant when it does not happen.   And put your hand up if that has happened to you before.  (My hand is already up .. lol).

Invite significance to come in when it’s ready …  don’t chase it.  It will come…   achieve it by helping others rather than number of upvotes….   It feels better that way.  Trust me ;)
 
 
 
 
 
The next TWO of the SIX STEEMIT HUMAN NEEDS are often fulfilled by Whales and Dolphins…  And is a pathway for us minnows to get there…
 
 
 
5. GROWTH on steemit
 
I think that speaks for itself.   Getting a following…. Getting better at understanding how it works here…  how the people react here……    more and more connections and friends here….  And of course as all these things improve…   we will be making posts that generate a lot of resteems and upvotes… and it will get better and better.  The whales here get fatter and fatter.   Growth is exponential and most challenging at the beginning.  I think we can all agree on that.  On the steemit  the rich get richer faster and faster…  and I think that is a good thing here.   No one can do well without helping others.  As a collective… the more people on steemit…. The more demand for steem… the more steem there is….  And more the value of our steem will go up….

6. CONTRIBUTION on steemit
 
As I said in GROWTH….    Success on steemit is a collective creature…    We all do well, or sooner or later none of us do well.  So give a little…..    Give in supporting a newbie… give in a kind comment…. Give in encouragement when a fellow is distressed….  Give a little with a tiny donation when supporting each other in the Minnow Support Project.    There is not much to about this as it is obvious…..
