The famous pipe. How people reproached me for it! And yet, could you stuff my pipe? No, it's just a representation, is it not? So if I had written on my picture 'This is a pipe', I'd have been lying (Magritte)

Almost everyone knows this painting or Magritte . The painting is actually called :  “La Trahison des Images” , The Treachery of Images. With this image, he plays with words and with your thoughts. Because what you see is it a pipe? Or is it not a pipe ? 

This dualism is what Magritte wants to transfer. The pipe is of course not really a pipe , but a picture of a pipe ..... or.....?
