과학 출판 전 논문(preprint) 사이트 arxiv.org에 이번 주 게시 된 논문에서 Johnson과 그의 팀은 태평양 북서부의 슬로우 슬립 지진에 대한 알고리즘을 테스트 했다고 보고했다. 이 논문은 아직 동료평가(피어리뷰)를 거치지 않았지만 동료 검토를 거치지 않았지만 외부 전문가들은 결과가 흥분된다고 말했다. 존슨에 따르면, 그들은 알고리즘으로 “며칠 내(아마도 더 낫게)” 발생할 슬로우 슬립 지진을 예측할 거라 했다.
