hiveblocksCada vez que visito Ciudad Vieja no dejo de admirar cada edificio,los azulejos, puertas , herraje, lámparas etc., ya que en cada paso voy descubriendo cosas nuevas, pero después de cada recorrido siempre termino sentada en un banquito de la Plaza Independencia, mirando de frente ese majestuoso Palacio Salvo, el cual en el momento que se construyó fué el edificio más alto de Sudamérica, pero ralmente lo que me encanta es la arquitectura de este.
En el centro de la plaza está el monumento a José Gervasio Artigas (Procer de la independencia del Uruguay) y a los laterales de esta gran estatua hay unas escaleras que dan al mausoleo de este.
El diseño de la plaza fué de inspiración francesa y diseñada por el paisajista Francés Carlos Thays en 1905, el cual creó cuatro jardines con plantas y una fuente en cada uno, sembraron 33 palmeras en honor a los 33 orientales que participaron en la Cruzada Libertadora, caminerias amplias y banquitos.
En frente ( del lado sur) se encuentra la torre ejecutiva ( Presidencia) y el Palacio Estévez que era antes la cede del poder ejecutivo, a este tuve la oportunidad de entrar el "Día del Patrimonio" pero no permitían tomar fotos, es una belleza todo lo que tiene por dentro.
Del lado oeste encontramos lo que es la Puerta de la Ciudadela.
También pueden ver el teatro Solis, obra arquitectónica del Uruguay. Les prometo que poco a poco iremos descubriendo y conociendo cada uno de estas construcciones asombrosas, pero por el momento y por lo que estamos viviendo con la pandemia solo puedo mostrarles las fachadas.
