Today i logged onto steemit to see some replies on [my recent water photography work](https://steemit.com/shorebreaksessions/@youareyourowngod/shorebreak-sessions-4-redgate-beach-margaret-river-wa). Usually i would be elated with this and take the chance to engage with people looking at my work. But this was not the case. Instead i received a Gif image of a cat informing me that my post had been flagged and consequently reduced in value.

Some of you may know @grumpycat on the platform, but i have personally never come across them before and to be honest i dont think they will have ever come across me or my work before (although i could be wrong). 

So @grumpycat, even though i have never had the pleasure of your acquaintance, i would like to let you personally know i feel its a shame you decided to penalise my work with flagging for what you claim as *abuse*, yet with a simple click, reward yourself just under 3x the amount my post was valued at with a couple of paragraphs in writing:

Now, if i was to pose further questions to this flagging, i would ask:

**Do I feel your 7 lines of writing are worth more than 3 hours of being physically thrown around the ocean like a washing machine in order to be in the right spot to get that perfect picture?**

*In my opinion, probably not.*

**Do I think your post took longer than the 2 hours of editing footage and writing/posting a story on steemit to entertain my mere 500 followers and *hopefully* get a small % of an upvote from a passing whale that thinks my content is ok.**

*You seem to be well educated in your writing, so i wouldn't have thought so.*

**When it comes down to it, do you really think my work deserved flagging?**

*I dont know, maybe you did think it was wanky and the $47 payout was way too high and that you needed to assert your power to intervene and bring it down to a reasonable figure. Maybe its just because cats dont like water.*


Either way, I just wonder,

Of course its obviously nothing to do with bots and account holders raping the reward pool, because that would be hypocrisy in the highest degree. But, should that be the reason, the irony is that your grievance would have no affect on the bot that i used and instead directly affect the rewards of my own work.

To be honest, using a bot kind of sucks, but this is unfortunately one of the few ways i can get my work noticed. And to invest in myself i perceive and use a bot as a marketing tool - in fact, my ROI using one often results in minus figures after curation, so im unsure as to how you would class it as bot abuse.

After reading your story on a [successful $710,000 lawsuit](https://steemit.com/grumpycat/@grumpycat/grumpy-cat-awarded-usd710-000-in-copyright-infringement-suit-npr-link), i can imagine the amount you detract from me using a downvote is believed to be insignificant - however i can assure you it is not.

The idea of a grumpy cat running around on a rampage is hilarious, but the damage you are causing throughout the steemit community is not. 

Athough i guess the cat pic is still quite funny.
