I've always had some sort of bad luck in the labour market. I don't think I've ever had an actual job with monthly payment. I also don't think I've ever been properly employed before. Neither have I ever applied for a job and received employment based on merit or qualification. It has always been based on recommendation.

# Getting Employed

I think my first employment came when I was 18 going on 19 years. I happened to be a student then who had never been into my department's radio station.

A friend called me up and said he got offered a position there and was asked to bring someone he was comfortable working with and he thought about me.

I said I had never been on-air and I had no idea what to do. He promised to put me through, so I went for it.

On my first day, I wowed the manager and his assistant with my fluency and ability to hold down discussions with people even when I obviously had little or no idea what they were talking about.

They loved me and invited me for a tryout the next day. I was scared because I had no script. I had no idea what was going to happen, but I went regardless and I messed up so bad.

I was brought as a guest to discuss newspaper headlines and give input to topics. I don't watch the news, so most of what I had to say was based on hearsay and speculation.

Although my words were terrible, they loved my delivery. They said it would take a genius to guess that I had no idea what I was saying.

So I got the job. And it was an amazing experience for the entire 2 years I worked there.

I handled 3 different shows at 3 different times and even co-hosted another show. I was on a roll. I became one with the job and it made me realize I have an awesome talent I had not worked on properly.

# What went wrong

During my stay there, I had never received pay. I did it for the love of the job and not because I expected to pay.

Every time I was given money for transportation or food, I assumed they were doing me a favour. I said I was an intern, however, from what I gathered I was actually an employee.

I had worked for 2 years and some other people were syphoning my pay. I found this out 2 years after leaving the station. I felt horrible because these were people I actually trusted.

However, the main reason I left the studio initially was because they had too many internal issues. I learnt a lot but where the station manager and studio manager were always having issues, it made us the presenters suffer.

# Other experiences

Right after that, I got working for a tech firm. I quit after 8 months when I realized the main project I was hired for was a total flop.

Next, I focused on my Network Marketing activities until I quit after a year of failing. Next, I became a teacher for a year and got to stay away from work for 8months, thanks to Corona.

Finally, I got my most recent job s a front desk officer. That lasted for 6weeks. 

Life has been pretty great since then.
