They say family is everything right? But why is mine saying something else? I have the most wonderful siblings, we were always together playing hide and seek, scattering things in my house and my mum would hear the sound of objects falling from the cabinet, she would rush out holding a very big cane to whip us, we'd run outside after spotting her with her sword, we call it that because that's what she used to reset our brains and it could be very powerful when landed on your back with a mighty force. 

I still remember these memories like they happened yesterday currently I feel everyone has grown and our bond is slowly fading away, I can't believe we grew up and have grown apart. The only thing that brings us together is this idea of Mum having a family dinner where she prepares our favorite dishes this dinner is held once a year, and for the past seven years I've been the one reminding my older siblings about the dinner, why do I have to be reminding them always can't they just remember on their own, I'm tired of this constant reminder." Alexandra said

"So it's that time of the year again right?"
Linda asked 

Groans "Yeah it is and I promised Mum I was gonna put a call through to all three of them but I didn't" 

Door opens:
Ahh Mummy you should have knocked, what if I was... 

Smiles" hehe What if you were what... Go on and complete the statement. Thats not what brought me here, have you called your older siblings? 

"No mum" looking at the walls as if I kept something on it. 

And why didn't you call them? 

Mummy I can't keep reminding them about the family dinner, we've had it severally so they should have it in mind that it's tomorrow. 

Do you know they are pretty occupied with a lot of things at the moment, you do right? 

Of course, Mum I do that's the more reason they don't need me reminding them about it, if they want to show up they will, and stop giving these excuses on their behalf, you've worked hard trying to get us together, I know they'll notice the hard work you're putting into this dinner and show up, at least they should surprise us. 

I'm gonna be positive but still remind them, meanwhile, I need you both in the kitchen, we don't have much time to prepare the dishes. 

(Alarm beeps)
What time is it? Alexandra asked 

"It's morning already" Linda replied 

And it's Saturday oh my God, why didn't you wake up, you know the family dinner is today. 

I tried waking you up. 

You should have tried harder.

Where is mummy? 

In the kitchen.

Alex ran to the kitchen putting on some clothes. 

Stretching her body: Good morning mum. 

I thought you wouldn't wake up today, go clean the table and put some of your decor ideas into the table, let it look stunning. 

Mum the shrimp pasta looks delicious and why do I feel like something is missing?

Well I used a different recipe in preparing this one, I know your siblings will love it. 

Sniffing the aroma "I love it already so they will, if they don't we'll stop having family dinner" 

(Doorbell rings)
I'll go get it. 

(Door opens)
Alex screams and surprisingly " How did" 

How did what? Sandra asked hugging Alex. 

Alex excitedly shouted"Mummy they are here" 

Mum "Oh my babies how are you all doing? Why are you here this early? 

Cynthia replied "Mum we came this early to assist in preparing the meals and also spend some quality time with you in the kitchen, we've missed that.

"And I miss running around this house, Mike said. 

"You are somebody's daddy so you can't do that anymore, group hug," Cynthia said.

"I can't believe we are hugging It's so intriguing, Mum someone is dragging my hair," Alex said laughing

Mum "Why don't you all go get a shower and come back downstairs for dinner".

" okay dinner is served," Mike said.

"The scent and tastes of these meals don't change and you prepared the way we like it, how are you doing it, mum? You should open a restaurant?" Sandra asked.

Mum smiling "Well it's nothing really special, it's for the love I have for you all".

Cynthia: Let's make a toast, everyone pour wine into your glasses and raise it up, this is to you all for being a part of my family, I miss you all every day the bond we share, the way we laugh about a joke, I miss your presence, this is to us creating more time for ourselves and to you mum, thanks for being patient with us and we love you so much.
