Between technological developments and privacy
**The country of Singapore in the near future will install the camera on the streetlight pole. The goal is that local authorities can recognize faces in crowds across the country.**

No half-hearted, in the first stage there will be 100 thousand more cameras to be installed lampposts throughout the region of Singapore. GovTech, the Singapore government agency responsible for the Lamppost-as-a-Platform pilot project (LaaP). we tested a number of sensors on lampposts, such as cameras that can support facial recognition capabilities.

Unfortunately the camera installation plan combined with the face recognition application raises fears among security experts and rights groups. Because fear will reduce the privacy of citizens.

The emergence of many concerns related to privacy, the Singapore government was voiced. They promised to keep privacy up front.

Even on one occasion, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the project is part of a broader Smart Nation plan to apply cutting-edge technology to improve people's lives. The Singapore government also has confidence in this technology will make it possible to conduct crowd analysts and can support anti-terrorist operations.

GovTech also promised to promote privacy and data security. "Protecting personal data and maintaining privacy is a key consideration in the implementation of this project," said a spokesman for GovTech.
