Once, in the old days, I often came to Peterhof, where my relatives live. From here to Oranienbaum is literally at hand. This time, as before, my daughter and I came to Lomonosov Park by bus, although trains regularly run here.

We are greeted by the sparsely populated streets of the city, on the left is the entrance to the Park, and on the right side of the road stands the bell tower of a large white stone church. Almost immediately after entering the park, we are greeted by the neat facade of the Menshikov Palace.

***HELP FROM THE NETWORK:* *Menshikov or the Grand Palace is a monument of Peter the Great time. The building is the center and the oldest structure of the majestic palace and park ensemble of Oranienbaum (now it is the city of Lomonosov). The Menshikov Palace towers over the shore of the Gulf of Finland and embodies the assertion of Russia on the Baltic Sea. The uniqueness of the building is that during the war it was not destroyed and we can admire the creation created by the great masters of the XVIII–XIX centuries, as well as see the furnishings and art objects of that time.***

This time we were unlucky again and the museum is closed. But there is still a lot of interesting things ahead of us, there is something to see. If you couldn't get inside the palace, you can inspect it from the outside. There are many beautiful alleys and flower beds around. Everything is very neat and well maintained.

This time there are few visitors. There are always few of them, because tourists rarely get so far from the center of St. Petersburg to these parts. This is a bit strange, because you can get to Lomonosov directly from the Baltic railway station by Train. The whole trip takes about an hour.

Когда-то, в прежние времена, я часто приезжал в Петергоф, где живут мои родственники. Отсюда до Ораниенбаума буквально рукой подать. В этот раз, как и раньше, мы с дочкой приехали в Ломоносовский парк на автобусе, хотя сюда регулярно ходят электрички.

Нас встречают малолюдные улицы города, слева вход в Парк, а с правой стороны дороги высится колокольня большой белокаменной церкви. Почти сразу после входа в парк, нас встречает аккуратный фасад Меньшиковского дворца.

***СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ:* *Меншиковский или Большой дворец является памятником петровского времени. Строение является центром и старейшим сооружением величественного дворцово-паркового ансамбля Ораниенбаума (ныне это город Ломоносов).  Меншиковский дворец возвышается над берегом Финского залива и олицетворяет утверждение России на Балтийском море. Уникальность строения состоит в том, что в годы войны оно не было разрушено и мы можем полюбоваться творением, созданным великими мастерами XVIII–XIX веков, а также увидеть обстановку и предметы искусства того времени.***

В этот раз нам снова не повезло и музей закрыт. Но впереди нас всё равно ожидает много интересного, тут есть на что посмотреть. Если не получилось попасть внутрь дворца, можно осмотреть его снаружи. Вокруг много красивых аллей и клумб. Всё очень аккуратно и ухожено.

В этот раз посетителей мало. Их всегда мало, потому что туристы редко забираются так далеко от центра Петербурга в эти края. Это немного странно, потому что в Ломоносов можно добраться напрямую с Балтийского вокзала на Электричке. Вся дорога занимает примерно час.
