The "emerging consensus" on the right seems to be roughly this:
- The gathering was peaceful, and would have remained so if it weren't for a few agitators who goaded the crowd into storming the capitol.  And most or all of those agitators were from the left, trying to make Trump look bad.
- The protesters who went in were basically tourists on a lark.
- At no time were members of congress or Mike Pence in any danger.


I'm sure that the majority of protesters were peaceful and well intentioned; many discouraged window breaking and other vandalism.  And clearly some of the invaders were clueless idiots.  But don't let that obscure how close we came to having armed terrorists executing public officials.  

Read this account by Capitol police officers, and consider the Chris Hayes segment with rioters crushing police and shouting "Hang Mike Pence!".   Capitol police were aware of the Proud Boys plan to storm the capitol before the crowds gathered at 9 AM.  This was a deadly serious attack by terrorists with advanced planning and coordination.  And many of them were active law enforcement members from around the country...let that sink in for a minute, along with the Chicago Police union leader's comments in support of the mob.

It's going to take months to investigate who was behind the attacks, and who in the Capitol police made the decisions to leave the Capitol so insecure.
