Last night I started reading the latest Dan Brown novel, Origin. I'm still not very far into it but I'm enjoying what I'm reading so far. It reminds me alot of Angels and Demons, which was the first Robert Langdon story and written in the year 2000.

Dan Brown novels are always interesting because they're an exciting blend of both science and religion. He crafts a story that often intertwines the two things together into one plot and one feeds off of the other. Robert Langdon's job is to navigate through using his skills and fight his way towards the truth.

His earlier novels were much more focused on conspiracy and science fiction, particularly Deception Point, which merged political intrigue with science and alien conspiracies.

I noticed it wasn't until he introduced Robert Langdon in Angels and Demons that he really started to explore Christian theology and history and really tap into that as inspiration for his stories. I really liked this fusion of different perspectives and he has seemed to stick with it ever since.

## <center>After The Da Vinci Code</center> ##

The Da Vinci Code put him on the map, and this novel attracted a great deal of attention. I also liked this story, but not as much as I enjoyed Angels and Demons, since it didn't have science fiction elements in it.

The Lost Symbol, the next story, was massively interesting and definitely one of the ones that I took alot away from, particularly of the primary antagonist Mal'akh. This story dealt alot with human consciousness and various noetic sciences, which I developed an interest in and began reading more about. Whilst this one was smaller in scale, it was definitely much more focused in its themes.

Inferno was, in my opinion, the weakest Robert Langdon story so far and the most forgettable. That said, it dealt with some heavy themes (world overpopulation) and presented an interesting scenario but was executed in a exaggerated and superfluously grandiose way, to the point of generating melodrama rather than drama. I really wanted to enjoy this novel but I found it rather anti-climactic.

I have high hopes for Origin, which so far presents the most interesting synopsis of all of them. Brown's narrative style has evolved to explore more transhumanist and futurist themes whilst fusing them with ancient and middle history, and I'm quite excited to see how they all turn out.
