Good day all! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa.

Today my hobby post will be a little different. We are doing an artist feature, well the man I am talking about is actually quite good with Warhammer at all levels.

I am talking about my good friend Nicholas Rorich (@lex-zaiya's SO). He's a walking encyclopedia of rules knowledge, is invested in the lore of 40k as well. As you shall see below he is an avid painter and I think that there are leaps and bounds between his old paint scheme and the new one!

Nic also plays a lot of Warhammer and he has had his hand at nearly every faction of Warhammer 40k at one time or another.

So let's look at the re-paint of the Primarch of his current army - The Death Guard. The Primarch in question is of course none other than the Daemon Primarch Mortarion.

You might recall Mortarion. I mentioned him in this post about [Nurgle, God of Plagues and Disease](https://ecency.com/hive-189497/@zakludick/warhammer-40k-lore-god-of-a3b194f6ec782).

So hold on to your hats for this is going to get disgusting! (This is my ironic compliment to all Nurgle Players I come across, especially when they have done a good job.)

# Mortarion Before

The initial colour scheme was painted by Nic about 4 to 5 years ago and looks like this...

Quite a dark color scheme. In the end of the day it is hard to mess up with Nurgle units. But as you shall see later, you can also become masterful at painting them.

Instead of an angel, this is Daemon Primarch and they are more like bug wings. Disgusting stuff!

# Preparing to repaint

With Kleen Green, a toothbrush and a small scraper, Nic did a great job cleaning up this model.

It was then basecoated with a rattlecan in Wraithbone color.

# Painting Steps!

Below is a camera roll of Nic's process. He picks out colors and goes over those details and moves on to the next.

Bit by bit, massive amounts of detail are revealed!

This new color scheme is to fit Mortarion with the rest of Nic's army which he is repainting in the colors of the Pallid Hand. The Pallid Hand are a warband or "vectorium" of the Death Guard 2nd Company.

Remember, Death Guard are a Traitor Legion and thus the did not break down into Chapters as the Space Marines did. They ALSO have a lot of subfactions and interesting (disgusting) lore!

# Final Results!

The final results is just stunning and such a massive improvement! I wish I could paint like this! Practice makes perfect and Nic has been putting the work in!
