As every stroke of the pitcher on the violin deepens my sadness, slowly I start losing my grasp on the ability to fend of sorrow and despair from taking over! Is the end near? Does this universe cease to exist when visible light stops making images behind my retina? Or do I only cease to exist? I ponder at such thoughts but find no solution, like that shipwrecked man who made a volleyball his companion to find some modicum of humanity in his solitude, only to lose a part of his sanity!

I was better off before, in those times when I never cared about Bach's oratorios. Simple life, simple thoughts and evening after evening spent away gossiping about simple things! And now, I am spirited away, chasing after my soul, and no matter how many cats I murder, the flute that opens the doorway to other realities keeps deceiving me! A mirage is it! Or fool's errand destined to end in folly! I don't know anymore.

Illustrious thoughts nourishing ones' philosophy they might be, but nowadays, words like a virtuoso and firm morale seem nothing but trivial hollow expressions. Once, it wasn't like this. Or, it might be then, I was a cynic in denial. Like that woman who loved her man with all of her heart. Even though he came home drunk at night and relieved himself from stress by beating her and making mindless love at the same time! With her belief in love, hope and humanity, she kept holding on to him. Until one day, a misplaced kick to her belly took the life of her unborn child! While she tightened the noose around her neck and the man lay on the floor with his throat sliced through, she found the meaning of reality! Was she too a cynic in denial? Or that singular act of repulsion turned her into one?

I once had a dream where I was in a *Wheatfield with Crows* along with Mr Van Gogh. Standing at the pitchfork crossroads, while my sense of direction was utterly lost, I saw him! Like the devil at crossroads, while he strokes his paintbrush in the air! As if he was god painting the universe a canvas at a time! The road on the left muddy, and while hovering over it, thunderclouds play with lightning. The road on the right, all dry and while god rays shine over, crows and vultures fly in circles. I walked up to him and asked, among those two roads in front, which one should I choose? After a short menial pause, he pointed his paintbrush towards me.

Only after ages, I realized, he did not point at me but actually had showed the right direction: to go back the way I came! To the place which I should have never left! And now, as the turntable in front of me sings *Erbarme Dich, Mein Gott* and grieves, I can see crows flying over that wheatfield, only this time, no one is there to show the right way!

Lots of nostalgia here, Sakib.

Lots of references of our discussion too.

I will start at no particular order. But I will start by saying something obvious, and you know this very well; that I am not one of those 6 billion people. That said, I have deep respect for every religion and spirituality. I have studied extensively on a few. Carl Jung Institute is close to my home, so I know quite a bit about him and his philosophy.

> “Vocatus atque non vocatus deus aderit”
“Bidden or not bidden God is present,”

Although Jung popularized it. But he was also quoting the phrase.

The Latin phrase is from the Adagia, a collection of sayings from ancient sources collected by Erasmus. The actual source is the “History of the Peloponnesian War”, written around 400 BC by the Athenian historian and general Thucydides. In it, he recounts how the Spartans asked the Oracle of Apollo in Delphi if it would go well with them if they went to war with Athens. The oracle answered that if they put all their strength into the war, victory would be theirs, and that “the god himself would be there, whether invoked or uninvoked”

It was also mentioned in the famous book by Patrick Leigh Fermor : Mani

I have actually visited Delphi and Delos, and it was described in their museums.

What was god to the Greeks and what was god to Jung and what is god to you .... are all very different. Jung went into isolocation at the bank of Lake Zurich to built a "Tower" all by himself. There was not running water or electricity. It was a desolate and cold place to be. Jung was a city guy. But we wanted that isolation to explore himself deeply. He even took a masonary certification so that he can build a hourse all by himself. Such was the commitment towards inner exploration.

All these exploration gets me back to the writer of that poem. My friend. I miss him. Funny thing is, when we were together, we mostly fought. I wish I have spend more time with him.

Im actually at a loss of words dada! Who knew that one quote could be intertwined with so much of worlds history! I for one should have done some research on it allready! Its even more shameful for me:3 i have to put more focus on my greek history and mythology!

>All these exploration gets me back to the writer of that poem. My friend. I miss him. Funny thing is, when we were together, we mostly fought. I wish I have spend more time with him.

It took me a few times of reread to fully understand it! He is a great guy! With great hold over bangla! Im thankful that i have the privilege of working under the same banner of turni and take ahead what you had started:)

> Does this universe cease to exist when visible light stops making images behind my retina?

This debate is already over Sakib. I'm sure you'll eventually come to a conclusion. But its a great question, one that ruled the world for a long time.

> The road on the left muddy, and while hovering over it, thunderclouds play with lightning. The road on the right, all dry and while god rays shone over it, crows and vultures fly in circles.

This is beautiful!
Why Van gogh though? Did you idolize him in one point?

Still a staggering 6 billion people believe in the existence of some divine power:3 now now, from the last time we had this discussion, nothing miraculous happened which could have tipped the scale of this debate in my favor. So ill be staying far away from this debate:v:v

But Im a stupid blind believer😅

>“Vocatus atque non vocatus deus aderit”
>“Bidden or not bidden God is present,”

I dont necessarily idolize van gogh. But i am familiar with a few of his works and the letters he wrote to his brother! And man are those thought provoking! Thats why sometimes van gogh takes over me:3

Oh I was not insinuating god or religion at all. Rather the philosophical debate over this idea of sensation vs perception and materialistic world. It's quite famous and a number of prominent names can be found on either side.

I'm kinda in the dark about Gogh. But Starry Night does pop up every now and then.
