Ethereum Congested: Time to Start Looking at Other ICO Platforms?

The recent Ethereum transaction backlog has been pinned on the high traffic caused by the mass rash of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs [hacked link]). Long-term solutions have yet to be looked at, but certain individual ICOs (such as iDice) have decided to tell users to increase the “gas” they use to propel their investments.

While this may work for the ICOs, ultimately the network is congested, and a long-term solution will have to be worked out by the DAO and Ethereum developers at large.

While the status quo exists, it’s worthwhile for developers and other parts of the community to look at alternative platforms for ICO launches, as there are several. As earlier reported here at CCN, Ethereum Classic is aware that ICOs will increase on their platform over time. At around $20 per token and otherwise equal level of development, Ethereum Classic is an obvious way to go – there is a lot of untapped, unused capital in that market, and eager start-ups might be wise to tap into it rather than compete in the horde of Ethereum-based ICOs

I think we have to look at multiple coins. Maybe the three top ones all have potential. Bitcoin, litecoin, ethereum.

People go with the next best thing but Ethereum classic is sttill attached to Ethereum. I would buy into Waves. i believe Waves will see the next huge jump. Ultimately though Bitcoin will keep its throne. These coins can grow in potential but ultimately like ether and bitcoin the scaling issues will slow them down and people will look forward to the next best thing.

Yes it's clear to me also that ETC is an obvious choice for building DAPPs, smart contracts, ICOs...There's definitely something to be said for being an immutable blockchain, and I've been told the Dev team has been working on innovative ways to tackle potential problems if/when ETH switches to Proof Of Stake mining.  Also, I believe that Corion platform was the first project to launch their ICO with an actual ready-to-use product - a wallet, P2P exchange, marketplace and more - on ETC. Etherium Classic has other problems, that have to be solved. E.g. a hard fork is planned for late 2017 to change unlimited token emission to a fixed-cap.
