In both the US and Nigeria, a million dollars is a sizable sum of money. It is equal to 500,000,000 NGN+ (over five hundred million naira) or, if traded on the black market, roughly one billion naira. This sum is so large that it would not cover all of the expenses that over 90% of Nigerians incur over the course of their lifetimes, both calculated and uncalculated. Actually, if you had a million dollars, you could probably recover from a lot of bad financial choices.

You might anticipate that someone with so much money would spend a large portion of it on the best experiences and pursuits. Even though I would definitely treat myself, there are a few things that won't be on my agenda or even cross my mind. Let's discuss them:

## Clubbing (And Dorime)

You know I won't be going near any clubs or wild parties, even if I get my one million dollars for free. First off, I don't enjoy going to clubs. I think they are a waste of time and put people in danger. One of the things that keep me away from clubs are the clamour and loud music.

What's worse is that clubs these days—especially in Nigeria—aren't just places where people go to have fun; they're also places where they're forced to spend lavishly. Some clubs will charge more than 200 USD for a water that is only worth one dollar. I wholeheartedly concur with you if you say that this is a trend in clubs around the world, but do you know what isn't a trend everywhere? It is what we refer to as **dorime** in this country.

Believe me when I say that dorime is a disease and a spell that has been cast on the typical Nigerian youth who have some disposable income. When the song starts, it's customary to spray money, but you're only allowed to use mints (clean, brand-new bills), and high denomination bills are preferred (some even spray US dollars).

Trust me, a quarter of a million dollars could be lost in just 10 dorime sessions. The fact that you must purchase the mint notes, which are quite expensive, makes the dorime disease worse. Someone I know purchased 10,000NGN mint notes for 14,000NGN.

So why should I spend so much money clubbing, you ask? Why do I feel the need to feed my ego so much in front of people who don't even know me or care about me? Therefore, not a single dollar of my $1 million USD will be invested in any aspect of clubbing due to the natural dislike of rowdiness, loud music, smoking, drugs, and the current club culture in Nigeria.

## Spend more than 0.5% of the Money on a Funeral

We missed the point of funerals, particularly in Africa. I fail to understand why people eat, drink, dance, party, and generally act excited during funerals. Is that our purpose in being here?

One of the most important events in a person's life that they should attend are funerals. This is a time for sober reflection, reevaluating one's outlook on life, remembering the ultimate fate of all people, and being thankful for life. But everything has changed thanks to us.

Nowadays, funerals are held either to apease the deceased or to please the living, and that is wrong, IMO. I admire Muslims (or those who follow Islamism) for their straightforward approach to funerals because that is how they ought to be. Funerals are a large industry with professionals operating within it in most African countries, with Ghana being at the top of the list and Nigeria coming in second (it's hard to tell about others). These professionals include professional wailers, professional singers, professional cooks, professional undertakers, and more.

I prefer to keep funerals simple, and all funds would go toward making sure that out-of-town guests are well taken care of.

## Lastly, Womanizing

Oh, this is a really difficult one! However, it is vital. The fact is that every man naturally has this urge or tendency to womanise; it is part of our anatomy and physiology. Being in charge requires a lot of self-control and discipline, which is made even harder when you have access to the money that attracts women.

But I've always made an effort to refrain from womanising because it's not only stressful but also disrespectful of the female gender and sex (it is a form of lack of respect and value to them). So, I believe it's best that I mind my own business regardless of having all the resources available to become a sugar daddy, zaddy, and more.

In conclusion, if I had a million dollars, I would spend it on experiences and things that are important to me rather than wasting it on extravagant funerals and clubbing.
