There was an old man who was very poor and he was selling eggs for living. One day a rich lady approached him and asked him: "how much do you sell the eggs?" The old man replied : "thirty cents per egg!!" and she replied to him: "I will buy 10 eggs but I will pay you 2.50 $ or else I will leave. The old man agreed with the rich lady because he hadn't sell any egg that day and he thought that maybe this lady will bring him some luck. The rich lady left very happy because she bought the eggs in a very good price, she put them in her luxury car and went on the restaurant opposite the old man, to have lunch with a friend of her. There they ordered a lot of dishes. They ate very small quantity of food and left most of the food in the dishes. Then they asked for the bill. It was 37.50 $, The gave 40$ at the waiter and told him to keep the change. [credit](http://www.echo.ie/show/article/free-safetalk-workshop-in-tallaght-for-those-who-want-to-help-prevent-suicide) This incident was very natural for the waiter but it was also very painful for the poor egg seller who was watching them across the street. The thing is: Why do we always show our strength when we see a poorer man? And why do we become generous to those who do not need our generosity so much? When I saw this story online, it reminded me the community of steemit. There are a lot of rich peole here that they don't really need support and votes on their blogs, but most of the users support them because they have power and money. On the other hand minnows also vote for rich users with the hope that they will return the favor. So what are we accomplishing with that tactic? Rich users become richer and minnows are struggling for a vote by begging for followers and support generally. fortunately there are some people who think different and try to support new users. Some of them are @skapaneas @onceuponatime @ruth-girl @liondani @berniesanders the team behind @curie and @steemstem , @kevinwong, @pharesim and of course the @minnowssupport team. I am sure that there are a lot of other users that vote and support newbies but I don't remember them right now. so if you think I forgot someone write his username on the comments and I will add him! What these people do for the community is remarkable because they care about the whole growth of the platform and not only their interests. I want to thank all those people for their support to all minnows including myself. :) [source of the story](http://trelogiannis.blogspot.gr/2018/01/o-30.html) Thanks for reading..I would love to see on the comments some of your stories with people that helped you here when you were a newbie!! See you next time :)

The times I've needed help, no well off person helped, it always was some person who works for a living. Similar (the motivation, I think) is when a beautiful girl wants to cross the street, drivers will stop for her. Anyone else, they take their life in their hands when they try to cross (just like the proverbial chicken). The funny thing is, the driver does not expect anyhing from the girl, yet maybe there is that vague 'if', even if it is totally unlikely.

Very meaningful story of an old man and a lady. This shows that poor people are happy in what they get and they feel lucky that god care of them. but the rich people never stop asking things. They ask more and more even after they have everything. When we think about generosity, most of us probably donβt think immediately of a powerful force, an inner resource, a real tool for changing how we relate to ourselves , to others and to our world. Why are people generous? Why are some humans much more generous than others? What factors tend to promote or inhibit generosity? It turns out that generosity makes a big difference in the quality of human personal and social life, both for the givers and receivers. So the better we understand it, the better we will be able to think about and practice it, toward greater human flourishing. Keep sharing this type of article more. thanks
