As a lot of people already know there is something new on the steem blockchain. It goes by the name of ”User Authority”. And in this small blog I will try to explain what it is about in a very easy way. If you feel that you want to know more I leave links to the original content in the bottom.

If I would ask you what you find the most annoying thing on steem. Most people would call out bots. Or those accounts that spam you telling that they resteem to there one million followers. And we all know 99% of those are bots. Or better said accounts with no posts – no comments – no steem - and no followers of their self.

Now user authority is a system build to combat those things. In essence it takes data from yourself – your followers and the followers of your followers and calculates your ranking in the system. It looks at not only you but the people around you. If you have a lot of quality users following you, your standing will increase. (it is way more complex then this but I believe you understand what I mean by this)

Now if you contribute great content and you comment on people and are a respectful member of the steem community you will benefit greatly by this system. Because the people with a good standing will follow you (not because you asked) and you will rise in the ranking.

The system is like a peer review. It shows your level of commitment in the steem community. And in the future I believe this system will be used by a lot of other systems that want to let those with great standing benefit more than those who are just here to beg for upvotes. Or those who just upvote themselves.

I see the potential of this system. And I will be delegating most of my steempower to @steem-ua.
