I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of power Steemit gives you in posting content using HTML.  Most social media sites like Facebook make it impossible to use markup to improve post appearance.  I'm not sure that many are aware that you can use HTML directly on Steemit, though there are some limitations.  I also use CSS (Cascade Style Sheets) but that won't apply to Steemit.

You can write a link like the following.

This is what the result of the link generates here:

Of course if you click that link the result is a 404 error.  That's because I left out the URL.

If I just included a URL in the text it gets picked up in the text editor like this:
http://www.astrology-x-files.com/delphicoracle-download.html

The Markdown styling guide is useful, but if you're like me and have had a website online since the mid 90's you might have thousands of pages of content you can post.  However I wouldn't recommending wholesale copy and paste from your website to Steemit.  For one thing Google can flag duplicate content and cause issues with ranking PR of your website.

However this does represent an opportunity to upgrade your already existing content.  You can also use header tags

I'm still experimenting with this and am sure I haven't found all of the possibilities yet, but try this with FB and the results are positively ugly.
