Impressions of Arcachon and Cap Ferret
Dear Hiveans,

After 16 days of vacation we are on our way back to Switzerland (again in a TGV). From Bordeaux we went to the sea near Nantes (Pouliguen), and had a great time there. I`ll post some photos of our travel destinations the coming days.

From Bordeaux we made an excursion to Arcachon and Cap Ferret, and I just want to share some photos with you.

The first thing we saw was that advertisement: it reads „to become somebody“ by committing oneself to the French Armed Forces. Though I see the need of armed forces, I find it highly questionable that young men (and women) are lured into the military.

Liebe Hiver,

Nach 16 Tagen Urlaub sind wir auf dem Rückweg in die Schweiz (wieder per TGV). Von Bordeaux aus sind wir ans Meer in der Nähe von Nantes (Pouliguen) gefahren, und hatten dort eine tolle Zeit. Ich werde in den nächsten Tagen einige Fotos von unseren Ausflugszielen posten.

Von Bordeaux aus haben wir einen Ausflug nach Arcachon und Cap Ferret gemacht. Nachfolgend ein paar Fotos.

Das erste, was uns auffiel, war diese Anzeige: Es heißt "jemand werden", indem man sich bei den französischen Streitkräften verpflichtet. Obwohl ich die Notwendigkeit von Streitkräften sehe, finde ich es höchst fragwürdig, dass junge Männer (und Frauen) zum Militär gelockt werden.

Queridos Hiveanos,

Después de 16 días de vacaciones estamos de vuelta a Suiza (de nuevo en un TGV). Desde Burdeos fuimos al mar cerca de Nantes (Pouliguen), y lo pasamos muy bien allí. Publicaré algunas fotos de nuestros destinos de viaje en los próximos días.

Lo primero que vimos fue ese anuncio: dice "convertirse en alguien" comprometiéndose con las Fuerzas Armadas francesas. Aunque veo la necesidad de las fuerzas armadas, me parece muy cuestionable que se atraiga a los jóvenes (y a las mujeres) al ejército.

Wow, just gorgeous.  You must feel refreshed.  I'm looking forward to seeing more photos from this trip.  Virtual travel :)

As for the military advertisement:  When my daughter was a senior in high school she received personalized recruitment literature in the mail.  She was only 17.   She wasn't even eligible to vote and yet she could join the military, put her life on the line.

I loved the second and the forth picture the best. In the second one the blue sky and yellow sand is making a wonderful contrast while in the forth the color of water is so attractive
