<h3>The sound of the trees</h3><h4>Have you ever wondered how it would sound like, when you turn the rings of tree-slices into music? I just came across an awesome installation, that answers this question.</h4>

<h4>Austrian artist <a href="http://traubeck.com/years/">Bartholomäus Traubeck</a> has created a record player that translates the different colors and textures of tree rings into music.</h4>

<h3>Every tree sounds unique</h3>
Sensors gather information about the wood and turn them into piano notes.
<blockquote>A tree's year rings are analysed for their strength, thickness and rate of growth. This data serves as basis for a generative process that outputs piano music. It is mapped to a scale which is again defined by the overall appearance of the wood (ranging from dark to light and from strong texture to light texture).</blockquote>

<h3>Built with Playstation and Ableton Live</h3>
