I continue my journey in God of War and have found us several dragons. After an epic battle against one of them, I was intrigued by the role of dragons in Nordic mythology. According to myths and legends, dragons represent a form of evil and are closely associated with that battle between good and evil known as Ragnarök.

A dragon is a symbol of power, strength and victory. The Nordics used to decorate warships, weapons and flags with dragons to intimidate the enemy. Perhaps we can say that a dragon is like a chimera in Greek mythology.

In God of War, we'll be fighting a dragon, a battle that will bring out the best in you and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but, apart from fighting, we'll also be releasing a few of them and finding interesting information. One of the dragons to be released is Fafnir, one of the most famous dragons in mythology and that is the son of the dwarf king Hreidmar. Fafnir was the most powerful of 3 brothers, but greed turned him into a dragon. He got carried away by the beauty of a cursed gold and ended up becoming this beast. His greed drove him to kill his father.

In the operas called The Ring of the Nibelungen, written by Richard Wagner, it is said that Fafnir kills his brother and takes possession of the treasure in which there is a magic helmet that gives him the power to transform into a Dragon, but there is also a cursed ring that perhaps is the one that leads him to be transformed into this beast forever.

In God of War, they don't delve into the history of the dragons, but I've used this adventure to investigate a little bit of every Nordic element and put myself in a more complete context. Other dragons in the game are simply to complement the environment as the story is centred on one of the main characters and you have to put the puzzle together.

In both Nordic mythology and God Of War, dragons represent greatness and power. Only a God can fight them, but keep calm, Kratos is a God.
