A few months ago I did a review of the first Hotline Miami game, I mentioned at the end that the game the day I did the review had a second part that did not give me time to play, just to see brushstrokes of how it was and more or less get an idea. Today I finally decided to try it properly after a great hour of the pure vice of getting into the skin of assassins killing left and right.
The truth is that I'm not going to deceive you, I was a little wary because I'm not a fan of second or third parts, this is the result of bad experiences with franchises that I've grown fond of and that with so many sequels have been progressively ruined. But the truth is that I had faith since the game is from an indie developer and I think it was able to more than meet the expectations I had regarding how much I liked the first installment.
First of all, I want to clarify that in this review I will not touch the basic mechanics since I developed the game system in the one I did to the first installment, rather I want to focus on what advances it had concerning the previous one and how they handled everything, in addition to the experiences that the game left me in the hours of gameplay I had. Also, I will not touch any specific point of the story so we will put the check to this review as **free spoiler**.

# <center>Having said that, let's start.</center>

The plot of this installment is to continue the adventures we lived with Jacket in the first, for this we will live passages set in events that happened before and after what happened and revolving around complementing the whole plot of the first installment that the truth was left quite unfinished. Hotline Miami could be seen in its first installment that the story was not a factor so developed and focused on polishing addictive mechanics that touched the arcade in some aspects and that made you addicted to murder.
However, in this second installment, once that was achieved, they could only focus on giving the game a good section in terms of history where many points that were left as unknown in the first one are touched. The story is very diversified and makes good counterpart making a variety of scenarios, something that perhaps in the first one was thrown in the face since we only went from Jacket's apartment to the mission and vice versa, in this to complement it we can be in different scenarios such as TV shows, prisons, courts, mansions, headquarters in addition to in the disturbing dreams of who we embody.

In this part of the saga we will not live Jacket's skin which probably you say things like "That sucks !" "How're you going to change the protagonist?" The truth is that it's a blast, it gives that diversity that was so much demanded that although it is not the greatest that can exist is quite fun to be assassins from another perspective that is not always the same. With one of the characters, something curious happened to me, that in the chapter of the above screenshot I felt that somehow or another they made reference to that boss that gave me so much disgust and fear that was Pigssy in another great game that was Manhunt but this time I was the murderer.
They also knew how to bring even more that touch of black humor, pretty much black enough the truth lol but I think that was always the essence of Hotline Miami, they knew how to exploit it well and in case you do not like the bloody scenes or overtones, in short, black humor in its pure state you can give an option to skip them that from the beginning tells you if you are sensitive to it or just do not like it.

The game as I said has different scenarios and characters, happens that in the first we could feel that we were living an adventure made to justify why we went to a place to kill those who were there and that ultimately what hooked us was the gameplay, music and all its aesthetics of characters. In this one, once this goal was achieved, they were able to focus on giving a very good story that has no waste. Honestly, Hotline Miami tended to get repetitive but this one doesn't feel that way at all. On this side, it can be said that's cool too.

In the game they added a new move that by giving twice space you can slide rolling like Indiana Jones, at the beginning I tried to grab the flight by doing combos but it rarely worked and I ended up dead. However, it's an interesting mechanic that I think if you develop it well, you can suddenly enter a room and destroy it. Also, our character can take two bullets instead of one as usual.

They also introduced new things, thank goodness they kept all the good things that were their mechanics in general. In the weapons, they added some new ones like skateboard scooters and one that became one of my favorites which was the chain and they also added many more that are pretty cool. Concerning the enemies, we have some new ones like the one I call the G.I. Joe soldier (lol) but the thing is that the guy in question makes runs like a mega soldier but when doing the same run he always falls easy, otherwise, the ones from the previous one are preserved.

The beginning of each level is the best, you know that everything is going to start and it will turn to a touch of red on the floors and walls. This time I tried to do the levels with good grades as I did in the previous one but the truth is that they are a little more demanding concerning them.
In the level in question, I played ironically with what I call one of the worst characters because he finishes off very slowly, moves very slowly (because of his weight) and the truth is that he has more disadvantages than advantages and yet I managed a combo of x11, something that is not crazy but it is quite the truth without having Zack's mask (longer combos).

However having scores that doubled the minimum level, good time, and dying only 1 time was only enough for an A-, at least I unlocked one of my favorite masks. I won't give up as I want to get all the achievements out of the game and for those like me who are into that, it's a point to keep in mind.
The game is still amazing musically, this time they varied in their repertoire and no longer just stuck to one artist. The synthwave genre is quite addictive and there were several that became my favorites and I added to my playlists. The visuals are brutal, they improved the section with aesthetics more like a kind of Japanese with Miami '80s but it is certainly amazing.

This game is undoubtedly a gem, I loved the second part I think they knew how to reach that higher bar that all fans expected. Hotline Miami was a jewel in itself that at the time swept the market being an indie game and contrary to the forecasts that many expected this second part ended up being better, it is noted that gave that touch of greater maturity that helped give more character to the saga.
The truth is that I enjoyed it from head to toe, it has no loss and is a game that I recommend entirely if you tried the first part and were left wanting more and if not, you do not know what you're missing. As always, it specializes in bringing out the killer in you but this time is taken to another level. Hace unos meses hice una reseña del primer juego de Hotline Miami, en ella mencionaba al final que el juego al día que hice la reseña tenía una segunda parte la cual no tuve realmente tiempo de jugarla, solo ver pinceladas de cómo era y más o menos hacerme una idea. Hoy finalmente me animé a probarla como se debe luego de una gran hora de vicio de puro adentrarme en las pieles de asesinos matando a diestra y siniestra.
La verdad es que para que mentirles, estaba un poco receloso porque no soy fanático de las segundas o terceras partes, esto a raíz de malas experiencias con franquicias que les he agarrado cariño y con tantas secuelas se han ido arruinando progresivamente. Pero la verdad es que tenía fe, ya que el juego es de una desarrolladora indie y de por sí creo que pudo llenar con creces las expectativas que tenía con respecto a lo mucho que me gustó la primera entrega.
Antes que nada, quiero aclarar que en esta reseña no tocaré mecánicas básicas, ya que el sistema de juego lo desarrollé en la que le hice a la primera entrega, más bien quiero centrarme en que avances tuvo con respecto a la anterior y como llevaron todo, además de las experiencias que me dejó el juego en las horas de gameplay que tuve. También no tocaré ningún punto específico de la historia así que pondremos el check a esta reseña como **free spoiler**.

El argumento de esta entrega es continuar las aventuras que vivimos con Jacket en la primera, para esto viviremos pasajes ambientados en hechos sucedidos antes y después de lo ocurrido y girando alrededor de complementar toda la trama que la verdad fue dejada bastante inconclusa. Hotline Miami se podía apreciar en su primera entrega que la historia no era un factor tan desarrollado y se centraban en pulir mecánicas adictivas que tocaban lo arcade en algunos aspectos y que te hacían adicto a asesinar.
Sin embargo en esta segunda entrega una vez ya alcanzado eso solo se pudieron centrar en dar al juego un buen apartado en cuanto a la historia en donde se tocan muchos puntos que dejaron como incógnitas en la primera entrega. La historia es muy diversificada y hace buena contraparte haciendo variedad de escenarios, cosa que quizás en el primero se echaba en cara ya que solamente íbamos del apartamento de Jacket a la misión y viceversa, en este para complementarla podremos estar en diferentes escenarios como Shows de TV, Cárceles, juzgados, mansiones, jefaturas además de en los sueños perturbados de a quien encarnamos.

En esta parte de la saga no viviremos la piel de Jacket cosa que probablemente como yo digas “¡Eso apesta!” “¿Cómo me vas a quitar al protagonista?” La verdad es que es un bombazo, da esa diversidad que tanto se pedía que si bien no es la mayor que puede existir es bastante divertido ser asesinos desde otra perspectiva que no sea siempre la misma. Con uno de los personajes me paso algo curioso, que en el capítulo de la captura de arriba sentí que de alguna u otra forma hacían referencia a ese jefe que tanto asco y miedo me dio que era Pigssy en otro juegazo que fue Manhunt, pero esta vez yo era el asesino.
También supieron llevar más aún ese toque de humor negro, un poco bastante negro la verdad lol, pero creo que esa era la esencia desde siempre de Hotline Miami, supieron explotarla bien y en caso de que no te gusten las escenas sangrientas o pasadas de tono, en fin humor negro en su estado puro puedes dar a una opción para saltarlas que desde el principio te lo dice por si eres sensible a ello o simplemente no te gusta.

El juego como dije tiene diversos escenarios y personajes, pasa que en el primero podíamos sentir que estábamos viviendo una aventura hecha para justificar porque íbamos a un lugar a matar a quienes estaban ahí y que a fin de cuentas lo que realmente nos enganchaba era la jugabilidad, música y toda su estética de personajes. En este ya una vez logrado este objetivo pudieron centrarse en darle una historia muy buena que no tiene desperdicio, sinceramente Hotline Miami se tendía repetitivo en algunas ocasiones en este el hecho de la historia y vivir algo diferente siempre hace que no.

En el juego agregaron un nuevo movimiento que al darle dos veces espacio puedes deslizarte rodando a lo Indiana Jones, esto al principio le trate de agarrar el vuelo haciendo combos pero casi nunca resultaba y terminaba muerto. Sin embargo es una mecánica interesante que creo que si la desarrollas bien puedes entrar de golpe a una habitación y arrasar con todos.

También introdujeron nuevas cosas, gracias a Dios conservaron todo lo bueno que fueron sus mecánicas en general. En las armas agregaron algunas nuevas como patinetes de skateboard y una que se convirtió de mis favoritas que fue la cadena y además agregaron muchas más que están bastante bien. Con respecto a los enemigos tenemos algunos nuevos como el que llamo yo el soldado G.I. Joe (lol), pero es que el sujeto en cuestión hace recorridos como un mega soldado pero al hacer el mismo recorrido siempre cae fácil, de resto se conservan los del anterior. También aguantamos más de dos balas a diferencia de la entrega anterior que podía una.

El comienzo de cada nivel es lo mejor, sabes que todo va a comenzar y se tornará a un toque rojo por los suelos y paredes. Esta vez traté de hacerme los niveles con buenas calificaciones como hice en el anterior pero la verdad es que están un poco más exigentes con respecto a ellas.
En el nivel en cuestión me tocó irónicamente con el que llamo yo uno de los peores personajes, esto ya que remata muy lento, se desplaza muy lento (por su peso) y la verdad que tiene más desventajas que ventajas y sin embargo logré un combo de x11, algo que tampoco es una locura pero es bastante la verdad sin tener la máscara de Zack (combos más largos).

Sin embargo teniendo puntajes que doblaban el mínimo del nivel, buen tiempo y muriendo solo 1 vez alcanzó para una A-, al menos desbloquee una de mis máscaras favoritas. No me rendiré ya que quiero sacarle todos los logros al juego y para los que como yo estén en eso es un punto a tener en cuenta.
El juego sigue siendo asombroso musicalmente, esta vez variaron en su repertorio y ya no solo se ciñeron a un solo artista. El género synthwave es bastante adictivo y hubo varias que se convirtieron en mis favoritas y agregue a mi playlist. La visual es brutal, mejoraron el apartado con estéticas más tiradas a una especie de japonés con Miami de los 80 pero que sin duda es asombroso.

Este juego es sin duda una joya, me encanto la segunda parte pienso que supieron alcanzar ese listón más alto que todos los fans esperábamos. Hotline Miami era una joya de por sí que en su momento arraso con el mercado siendo un juego indie y al contrario de los pronósticos que muchos esperábamos esta segunda parte terminó siendo mejor, se nota que dio ese toque de mayor madurez que ayudó a darle más carácter a la saga.
La verdad es que me lo disfruté de pies a cabeza, no tiene perdida y es un juego que recomiendo enteramente si probaste la primera parte y quedaste con ganas de más y si no, no sabes de lo que te pierdes.
