My guess is that's full screen resolution and not highest resolution. I was doing the same thing forever cause it looks bigger when taking the photo. 

There is probably a resolution setting that will keep the L same but make H more...it will be higher so it won't fit ur full screen anymore and appear smaller.

Thanks, need to test it out! Honestly haven't fiddled with the camera much yet except sending my gf some selfies to show her how yellow I still was. and that was with the front cam, lol.
