Wake up everyone.

The sooner we have a reality-based UI for Steem with all the bidbot posts in their actual home (the Promoted tab), the sooner we can resume our plans for mass adoption. 

An Organic Trending Page is in high demand as it always been since day 1. 

Some of us actually want to discover new things instead of tending to bot farms.

Nothing wrong with bidbots but they are currently on the wrong Tab.

I blame Steemit INC for the take over of the paid bid bots and everyone delegating power to them.   Now we have so many people trying to play king of the hill with the bots and also when new people come to Steemit the whole things looks like a confusing bot orgy.   

It wouldn't be that hard to fix.  Like you said moving those posts over to Promoted and then the trending page needs to use an algo that doesn't just throw the post with the most stake weight up there.   

They need to look at a combination of stuff like stake weight, number of upvotes from accounts with at least 200 SP or something, views, resteems, rep, amount of comments .......etc .   People will still try to game that but it is at least a little closer to Trending than it is now.   

Trending has been a joke since day 1.   For over two years it has been a huge problem with this place.

Yes I agree that Steem will be disrupted pretty quickly unless this gets solved. It’s actually not that difficult to implement some fundamental changes and I think dApps can do this better than anyone else.

If a post used a bid bot but gets enough other votes to be in trending, should it still be moved to promoted? Or just if it’s in trending only because of the bid bot?

So then if someone wants to knock someone off the trending page they just pay a little for a bid bot vote?

Or, if I buy a vote for someone else (I actually did this recently to help out someone in need), then that would automatically ruin their chances of getting on trending?

I’m all for making trending better, just wondering how it can be made to work without creating other problems.

This platform seems more doomed as time passes, what will happen with all the invested SP once bidbots take you out of trending? I assume a mass cash out as very few people will continue to use them and most holding the power don’t care to use it they just want the income, onto the next crypto with staking.

All the bidbots have to do to eliminate impact on the rest of us is require that rewards be declined.
The posts will still trend, they will be identified by declined rewards, the price of trending goes to it's true cost, and the reward pool isn't abused by those willing to buy their own trophies.
But, be careful who you say that to, they will boot you from their discords,..

Cant remember the last time I visited the trending page. I'd rather delve into the depths of the New tab than spend a second in trending.  

It certainly makes sense for them to go in promoted. I have a feeling unless a dev picks this up in creating a new UI that STInc will say "just wait for communities"

I completely ignore the trending page for that very reason. I prefer to follow people I find interesting and for that, I have my own feed. But indeed, shoving bidbotted content to the  promoted tab would be a nice cleanup

I have been saying the exact same thing for months now, there are two options: move all the posts that use bots to promoted  or put a promo label on any post that uses a bitbot or payed upvotes like ANY OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA SITE does. No need to reinvent the wheel here.. It would make it a lot clearer to new people and they would understand that it is hard to get huge payouts and that Steem isn't a get rich quick thing, the way it is promoted now.
