I had thought about mining BTC. But the thought of equipment cost and electricity consumption had discouraged me. So I just buy the BTC which others mine, average the price, and hope I will be in the plus overall. At the moment, despite BTC's fall, I still am. So I guess I'll just stick to this strategy.

In Germany the power cost is so high, that it is totally inefficient to buy those and run them at home o.O

The fact that prices have falling so much means that miners need to find ways to become more efficient in order to ensure profitability. I did mining on NiceHash to see what mining was all about. It wasn't very profitable. In a week I made about $5 using my GPU. But I had to be conscious of keeping my computer running all day and evening, even when I wasn't using it. I felt like I was going to wear out the other parts of my computer which was worth more than the little I was making from mining.

Then NiceHash got hacked and that totally ended my mining experiment.

Thanks for the technical view of mining.  Incredible how fast the technology develops for the space and the how nimble some of these assets have to be ensure that the security of the network remains intact.  The fact that prices have falling so much means that miners need to find ways to become more efficient in order to ensure profitability.  If not, it will be detrimental to the network as a whole.  That is where the line in the sand will be regarding prices.

I bought bought a little hats rate from  genesis mining and the start will was a few days back. It will be interested and see what I can get out of it.
its my fist mining experience.
