I feel like it should be treated more like a commodity then a currency, but that is my two cents.  Like a Gold or Silver in some sense.  The problem with treating it as a currency is that there is no governing body that can reduce or create more of it to stabilize inflation and deflation.  Big issue will be when big money really gets involved and exerts massive pressure and control over on these markets.
