Of course they won't support it, they don't want to loose any control they have over the coin. A bunch of companies got together and decided whats good for bitcoin and what direction bitcoin is going to take. What's different from that bunch of companies from a government that control fiat? Nothing good is coming out of this if bitcoin gets centralized and controlled by a few. And this is exactly what is happening right now
