I would be very interested in tutorials on Bitshares. I've been using the Bitshares-light app on my desktop, own Bitshares, and with such a lack of basic instruction available, have simply been buying and selling without really knowing what I'm doing. It has been frustrating to say the least. It seems that geeks cannot relate to newbies, because they immediately talk over our heads. Newbies like myself need this basic how-to information, and I imagine that there are thousands like me who simply give up in frustration. I think this is why their platform isn't doing much.

I completely agree. There is no basic tutorials anywhere almost. The BitShares community seems to have little or no clues why the platform hasn't gone viral or at least taken off in some way. The inability to simply convey the basics is startling. I have been invested with BitShares since 2013 back in the first round when the name was Protoshares and there is still no real basic information in how to use the UI for those who who are newbies. Steemit platform is different since it handles social media and blogging, something far less complex.

This is what we are trying to address here! The documentation can be lacking and confusing at times too. It is something that I would also like to see improved.
