<a href="https://steemviz.com/promo">This site</a> shows how much it costs to get to the top of promo page. Clearly, not meant for small individuals! Less than a month ago, a $20 spend would get you in top-10. Not anymore. We are better off purchasing whaleshares or requesting randowhale for a vote! Promo/ new/ hot sections should be customizable for each user and we should only be able to see specific categories etc. in them.

I would rather see the things you mentioned built into Steemit instead of everyone selling votes like a crooked election. It would be much better to buy those things and have the Steem dollars burned in order to help the entire community instead of a few whales. So many people want to be able to customize what they see, so I feel like its going to be a feature eventually.
