For many people, postmodernism is completely different. At least because a clear definition of this term and the phenomenon is not found. Some authors completely deny the meaning and morality of works of art, while others use only certain features of postmodern methods.

Features of postmodernism
We have already said that it is extremely difficult to define a term, so we will concentrate on the characteristics peculiar to most works.


Multivariance of interpretation. For postmodernists, the novel is fundamentally multitasking and ambiguous, or it does not make any sense at all.
Art as a game. Some writers purposely drive themselves to certain limits in order to write something completely unique. In doing so, they again sacrifice meaning.
Impulsiveness. The main aspiration is to shock and surprise the reader with unexpected turns of the plot and the actions of the characters. The drama and logic of the characters' actions are being killed.
Citation and plagiarism. Such borrowing is not even concealed, the very use of plagiarism is called upon to attract attention.
Mixing of low and high culture. For postmodernists, there is no division between elitist and everyday art. One smoothly flows into another and vice versa. Everything matters. And at the same time it does not.
