In my opinion it's not enough to simply offer people a monetary reward because there are some kinds of rewards that money can't buy just as thee are some kinds of damage which money can't fix.

Status in a sociological context goes far beyond money. Rank in a social context also goes far beyond money. For example in the military there are ranks, and no you cannot buy your way to being a high rank. In the military the rank has to be earned in some manner, in essence based on the impression a cadet makes on the superiors.
