For a good few months, was looking into the requirements to mine bitcoin or litecoin, as they're mostly sought after. the equipement i'd likely use is solar power with batteries setup, maybe something like this man has done.

It's a long days work getting everything right. moreso the electrics part, as i know very little about it, except how to wire a 3 pin plug :) 

Which goes onto the next thing. which should i really go for, the normal bitcoin, or the scrypt option which is meant to be best. The whole process of making some funds seems ok, but it'd take a good year or 2, to make back what costs you spent creating the kit and any electrical charge used, if you choose to run it on the grid. As someone i spoke to about it once, said if you spent 10grand gbp you'd maybe make 2k back or so in that year.  meanwhile the blockchain would be increased, & you'll end up waiting longer for any profits.

There are other options to use, from raspberry pi mining, to those asic miners specialised for the job.. or them small thumbized ones built into a daisy chain system to scrypt mine your coins. The name slips my mind.

Though it sounds fun to build and see how far it'll go.. Think it'll be best to faucet the places like moonbit. and buy small coins amounts, then wait for it to increase, and use the profit made to other needs or up the coin intake.
