I'm minding my own business, getting work done for a client, setting up a new workstation when all of the sudden, something's pulling at me...."Luke, go check Coin Market Cap. There, you will find the answers" Ok, ok, sorry to shred a great Star Wars scene, but you get my point. Article after article about Bitfinex and Tether being audited and Bitcoin prices about to crash 80%. I really started feeling that panicky feeling in the pit of my stomach? Should I cash everything out of cryptocurrencies right now!? As in, ASAP, make no buns about it? Yup! Time to move and move NOW! But then, the voice of reason quietly whispers to me...wait! Keep looking. Analyze for a bit. Get rational! So I step away from the computer and contemplate a bit on what I just read. I took another look at the various headlines and articles and started asking myself, "is this real news? or is it FUD? If it's FUD, how can I tell?" Well, at the end of the day, most real news is a simple reporting of facts while most FUD pieces are pure speculation and often cite news to prove their points rather than siting facts and figures to back up their statements. So I go back and look through the smattering of posts I just read and sure enough, it's all feeling, well, a mite bit too well-orchestrated, almost deliberately timed to induce an ever increasing sense of panic. Once I started thinking along these lines, I started quelling my own fears and started thinking in terms of what this means from point of view of improving my positions in the market? For one, if ALT coins take a significant more sizable punch, then I'll short a few positions by selling back to Bitcoin and wait and buy in when the dipping stops and reverses. If Bitcoin drops even more, I'll try to scrounge up more cash to buy more. But there's not enough panic here to convince me I should be vacating cryptos altogether. For one, too many people are invested in cryptos at this point. Sure 90% may be pure scam, or rathe, simply will fail as do 7 in 10 new normal startup businesses do every year. The best will survive. Which coins those might be, is anyone's game, but enough will survive to keep crypto currencies moving forward. For my part, I will continue to focus on looking for buy opportunities for solid coins with solid teams behind them that were hit unnecessarily hard by this turn of events.

Hey gibberishcode, I didn't hear any voices (or at least not as far as I am prepared to admit) but it was all a little surreal. I was alerted to what was going down while watching a live stream from the Neo DevCon....It was really early here (Tonga) I hadn't had a coffee yet so I also was caught a little off guard. The first thing I knew was people in the live chat yelling at each other to get out of Bitfinex NOW!!!!. I had not looked at any of the news sites but I figured that something big "may" have been going down. The next thing I knew was people saying that they had just dumped their Tether and a picture began to formulate. I don't have any Tether and I don't use Bitfinex so the heart wasn't racing too much. Next move I jumped onto the exchanges that i do use and sure enough there was a fair bit of movement. At that point, as it was moving pretty fast and I did not know how much time I had to check things out properly.....I did what I probably should not have done (or at least what goes against my general nature) I made a quick judgement call. With all the shit that had been flying around lately I figured that more than likely it was just some more airborne turds....so I held my breath and went shopping......nothing too extravagant just a little mid week treat a few Neo and a little bit of BTC .....ya gotta love a bargain. But seriously this whole Tether / Bitfinex thing is something to keep you eye on. Thanks for the post. May the Force be with You. Cheers J

I know exactly that feeling. It's definitely an odd feeling watching some of these things unfold in real-time. I had just that experience the other day watching VOX, which I was contemplating buying at the time because it was quiet, all the suddenly come to life and spike something like 20% in 1 minute. Had I bought just 5 minutes earlier, I would've also had a standing sell order at +15% gains waiting to sell. Now that would've been something!

Yep, life can sure be crazy ass! Did you figure out what caused the spike? I don't know too much about the VR space (got a bit of interest in Vibe....nothing too heavy but I liked the look of what may be possible. I am not a gamer though so much of this world is a complete bloody mystery to me, but I certainly think that once the infrastructure protocols get their act together and can handle the TPS that are needed for games then the early move companies that have got their tech together could go ballistic. Maybe the lesson for you to learn here......Is to trust in that bloody force. Take care Cheers J
