# VERITAS IN LIBERTAS
## What does this statement above mean? Now before I put your mind into overdrive, that Latin phrase translates  loosely into *"truth leads to freedom"*. When you have something as deep as that being the guiding principle of a blockchain project then you are already *free*!

## WHAT IS THE OPERATING SYSTEM?
>*An operating system (OS) is system software that manages computer hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs.*

The technical jargons above are simply describing *the mechanism that runs underneath your computer's, tablets, and phones.* If you have ever wondered how your devices do what they do, then your mystery is solved once you realize that it's O.S that does all the job.

For example, you pick up your phone and check the time, then it rings and you answer a call. After that you login to the internet and browse some sites. After that you probably put on your music app to take a nap while setting alarm to wake you up in 30mins time...And the list goes on. 

All these things are run by the software of the particular app. However, these apps need another super-software which runs in the core of the phone or device to coordinate these applications. That super-software is an O.S!

## A BAD USE FOR A GOOD TECHNOLOGY
Whoever has the idea for the first operating system is probably a genius. He/she has given the world a massive resource currently worth over 70trillion USD. This is great in and of itself but things begin to look dicy when you look at the perspectives.

The operating system is the internet. In case you missed that. It's these softwares that determine what you see on the net and what you don't. It's even more gruesome that the companies controlling your internet are centralized. This essentially means that they make their decisions based on personal sentiments and selfishness.

Let's look at the market share in the O.S industry;

Just take a minute to take in this information and ponder on it. Microsoft and Google are controlling an enormous share of the market cap. Now these are companies known to be *ruthless* in achieving their market dominance. What do you think is the date of humanity if this sort of trend continues?

Imagine a smart contract network from creating decentralized apps like *Ethereum*. Your imaginations will be endless if we are to go through the over 1600+ currencies on CoinMarketCap. Just imagine a win for Net Neutrality!
