Watch a 5-Axis CNC Machine make a helmet from a solid block of alloy
### Machined Alloy Helmet:

This is undoubtedly the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. Watch this CNC machine churn through a solid block of alloy to create a helmet that is truely a work of art. This Performance Racing Helmet was commissioned to celebrate Daishin Seikis 50th anniversary. The machine is a DMG 5-Axis (correct me if I'm wrong) and programmed using Hypermill, to perform this task. There would have been at least 1000 hours of advanced programming in the preparation for this. I've included some pics of the process below the video for you to enjoy. This is beyond awesome engineering.

I work on a larger model of this DMG machine.

5-axis CNC is incredible to work with. The simplicity of making complex parts is mind blowing but 3D printing will likely make even this technology obsolete soon.
