Nope. This is hardcoded: https://github.com/steemit/steem/blob/26949fa6432e6066b02f7f80483e68b1a9c8cb7f/libraries/protocol/include/steemit/protocol/config.hpp#L110

Even without changing this artificial limit, I think mechanism similar to Meteor could be used on Steemit fronend:
