Hi Cowboy! Nature is certainly amazing. I think it is still unclear by the bird specialists the purpose of the wax secretions but it increases as the bird gets older.

Very interesting redheadpei...it just seems like there would be a practical use of the wax also like in making nests to help keep them together or something.
