Diabetes was a concern even in medieval times, gout actually being a symptom that could mean the development of.  The wealthy, primarily, were ones to contract such, though those that ate mostly bread without burning it off much could develop it as well.

He truly cares for her to be trying to nip it in the bud.  The ravages it does to the body is.. terrible.

Yeah. I know. My dad and my Beloved have dealt with and are dealing with it, respectively.

The motivation was sweet. The method could use some improvement.

IDK what it is with Dragomyr, but he makes me want to explore some abuse red flags in a benevolent context. Only _some_ though. Dude's a total Wife Guy. Maybe it's the Being A Vampire thing... They _are_ monsters.

As for when this is? I'm not sure. I'm not even sure if Dragomyr is on Earth or Alfarell. It's still coalescing. Heck, even in the industrial era, diabetes was a horrifying disease.

I think he is tasting health issues when they allow him to feed, and he panics and tries to get them to better take care of their health.  He may be the awkward type that doesn't know how to tell someone "I think something's wrong with your health, please, let me take you to a medic."
